July 5, 200421 yr Commercial Member Hi All,I'm currently looking to join another VA, however I'm looking for VAs that are VERY realistic in their operations. I believe the old America West VA had the most realistic operations as I recall unfortunately I never had the opportunity to join them. Does anyone have such suggestions? Thanks! July 6, 200421 yr Hello,I can know of two that you might check out, depending on which type of a/c you enjoy. One is Midcontinent Airlines (I believe they are the old America West, but I'm not sure...that was before I joined). They fly the Boeing 737-200/300/400, the 757/767, and Airbus A320/A330. I can for sure say that they have the most realistic operations of any VA currently flying--all flights are assigned by dispatch and you get a FAA Part 121 compliant disptach as well as a very detailed weather briefing. They also have an ACARS system that not only automates PIREP's but you can also communicate in flight with the dispatchers and get WX updates. You do have to take a checkride in the aircraft of your choice to be hired (nothing super-hard, just flying a standard route), and there are also some training programs and exams for things such as CAT II/III approaches, ETOPS certification, Captain Upgrades, etc that you may need to complete once hired.Another is CalJet airlines. They are brand new and have not started flying yet, but it looks very promising. It seems to be a very dedicated and talented group of folks running it, so I'm looking forward to starting flying. Caljet operates only the PMDG 737NG, so you must have that to join (along with several other prerequisites--see the website). They also are going to do the extremely realistic operations (similar to MidCon), with a Southwest Airlines type atmosphere. As far as training, you first have to do an interview to be hired and there also is going to be a type-rating course for the 737NG that will include online classroom, reading, and flight instruction over multiplayer. Again, the flying hasn't actually started yet, but you can fill out an application on the website as of now.I think either of these would be an excellent choice, just depends on the type of aircraft you'd rather fly...Here are the two websites:MidCon: http://www.midconair.com/Caljet: http://www.flycaljet.com/Good Luck!-Marc
