January 29, 200521 yr Well welcome to the wonderful world of Flight Simulation! Since you are new to the Flight Simulator world, I would suggest a Virtual Airline that has their own established Training Program and/or gives you the opportunity to fly small aircraft (such as the A320) and even transition onto larger aircraft (such as the A330-200). But what is a Virtual Airline?A Virtual Airline is basically an Internet organization that is dedicated to the hobby of flight simulation.Virtual airlines are non-profit organizations, and are mostly organized like real life airlines. Most take a real airline's name; this is allowed as long as the virtual airline remains a non profit organization. Virtual airlines' organized structures often include presidents, vice-presidents, "customer relationship" directors, pilots and other features that real airlines also have. All virtual airlines should have postmail contact addresses."Pilots" or "ATCs" who "work" for these "companies" must have Flight Simulator and other computer equipment in order to perform. Usually, the airline's website keeps a record of the hours "flown" by each "pilot" and the pilots/ATC can increase in rank and status within the airline.May I suggest Air Arabia Virtual?! ;)However, flying for a VA is just like flying for a real airline, it takes time and commitment and at Air Arabia Virtual we aim to help you achieve your virtual career goals. Flying for Air Arabia Virtual can be a very rewarding experience, we hope that you will join us and we look forward to flying with you soon! Take a look at the careers that we offer!(we are also listed on the Avsim 'Links' section under 'Passenger Oriented Vas) Should you require any further information.Careers at Air Arabia VirtualAir Arabia Virtual tries to keep a high level of realism and professionalism in its operations and does its best to keep up with real world standards. Air Arabia offers opportunities to all of its employees. Within a virtual airline, there are many careers paths that you can take, the most common one being a Pilot or ATC.. Below you will find descriptions of what we offer in our airline, and what you can do to within our organization.Airline AdministrationAir Arabia offers many administrative positions to those willing to accept the positions. However, obtaining an administrative position within our organization. may not be as hard as you think! The staff positions offered at Air Arabia are mostly subject to availability but vary from high level consultation, that is, dealing with executives from other airline and organizations, to operational jobs, such as Flight Operations and Flight Instructing.Air Arabia holds no restrictions as to who can attain high level administrative positions. We do not in any way discriminate potential staff members due to their race, gender, sexual preference, ethnicity, religious affiliations and age. We are concerned with the applicant's level of professionalism and the skills they possess. Below is a general list of requirements that previous high level administrative employees have had to meet. The employee is willing to devote time to the airline. As English and Arabic are out two main languages at this airline, the applicant must be fluent in at least one of these languages (this includes, speaking, reading and writing).. The applicant must be able to interact with other staff and work with them in a professional and efficient manner. They must be able to work in a team. It would be preferred if the applicant has some experience either in the real world aviation field, or the virtual aviation community. It is not required that the applicant knows how to maintain and/or edit the web site (unless they are applying for a job such as web master!) but it would be preferred if they could. The applicant must be able to devote at least one day in the week to their duties (this will vary depending on the position). It is extremely important that the applicant replies to email effectively and quickly, and is somewhat present online, either on AIM, SQL or MSN. The above is a very general list of requirements. Our airline is looking for the above requirements to at least be somewhat met. To us, a person's abilities come first. Air Arabia is always looking for talent, and welcomes any and all applicants to our airline.Virtual Airline PilotThe most common career path chosen at Air Arabia Virtual would undoubtedly by this one, the virtual airline pilot. Air Arabia has a team of highly skilled and experienced pilots which fly its routes each day, connecting our hubs with destinations all over the world. On average, our captains have at least 100 hours of virtual flight experiences under their belts, and have flown everything from Cessna's to 747s. Our pilots have to meet a rather strict set of requirements in order to fly our aircraft, as it is a privilege to fly under our name! Our fleet does not consist of any turboprop aircraft, and subsequently, our fleet consists primarily of A320 aircraft so it is very advantageous that our pilots are Airbus Certified. If they have not flown airbus aircraft before we offer transition training for our airbus fleet. Basic requirements of our pilots are as follows:The applicant must know and speak fluent English.or Arabic. Is able to fly VFR. Has some experience with jet aircraft.. Is knowledgeable of basic radio telephony procedures. It is very advantageous if the applicant has flown for at least one other airline, and has proof of their virtual employment. However this is not a requirement. Has some simulator experience. Is rated to fly Airbus Aircraft. If these requirements are not met, do not worry! Air Arabia will do its very best to make arrangements for the applicant to be trained and certified by Air Arabia flight instructors if they want to be trained. Air Arabia welcomes any and all pilot applicants into our airline, and will train them upon request.About the Airline Air Arabia LLC was established as a fully fledged commercial airline of the United Arab Emirates on 3rd February 2003 by an Ameeri decree issued by His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohamed Al Qassimi, the Ruler of Sharjah and Member of the Supreme Council of the UAE. The Air Arabia fleet flies three modern A320 aircrafts, flying directly to twelve destinations including:Aleppo (Syria) Alexandria (Egypt) Assiut (Egypt) Bahrain Beirut (Lebanon) Colombo (Sri Lanka) Damascus (Syria) Dammam (Saudi Arabia) Doha (Qatar) Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) Khartoum (Sudan) Kuwait Muscat (Oman) Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) AND MANY MORE!This year Air Arabia plans to expand its fleet to four Airbus A320 aircrafts, flying to more destinations. We have also recently updated and included many new services to our site including our ARABIAN MAIL! service which allows all members to have personalized email accounts @airarabiava.com As well as new features in our dedicated training site. For more inforamtion and/or application forms please contact us at [email protected] or just visit us at http://www.airarabiava.com;)Arman MotiwallaAir Arabia VirtualVice-Ceo
January 29, 200521 yr See what you think to www.danairvirtual.netor www.flightlife.co.ukthere some of the airlines i use and i must say not badAll the best
January 30, 200521 yr Well probably one of the worst threads to start to get everyone out of the woodwork advertising there VAs :)Well meaning replies that go on to advertise there own VAs each and everytime! Which in my eyes indicates VAs desperate to get ther member numbers up...lol.***Neutral advice for you***Use your search engine typing in Virtual Airlines and see what you come up with then just look through them one at a time! There are thousands of VAs springing up and most dont last so avoid those.Decide which area you would like to be based in and see who offers that. You didnt state this in the original posting so would assume flexable?A lot of VAs have passworded access to see what they offer, well sign up to them! A word of Caution if you dont want to stay stuck on there roster use a false name and email addie. A lot of VAs will keep you on there roster just to look as though there busy which is really annoying and shows how much they update there sites. There are not many VAs offering Helicopters but again seek and ye shall find! Overall dont just listen to the advice of the VA Forum trolls that like to brag how good there VA is. Good luck in your quest.Pacific Flyer(sorry no Va to advertise..lol)
January 31, 200521 yr Hey i can be neutral as well! Check out www.bavirtual.co.uk It is the offical virtual airline of British Airways and is also endorsed by the real airline. However since you are a new commer it is unlikely that they will accept you as they have a waiting list in excess of 100 people! EXPERIENCE is what is needed. IF i were you join a small va (anything smaller than BA virtual!) and see how you fare there. If training is what you need, check out the training sections on the airline's site. If they dont have a training program then perhaps they are not the best choice for you as you really need to gain experience and have someone show you the way, personalized service is waht you should be looking for. Now I know that Ba virtual DEFINETLY offer this along with American Virutal and many airlines in the Flying Tigers Group...you could (NOT TRYING TO ADVERTISE) just check out http://www.airarabiava.com/training if you are looking for training and experience (you dont need to be a member of the va to utilise our training program, just select the class you want and sign up!)I wish you the best of luck in your quest ;)Arman
January 31, 200521 yr You must really be desperate for people to join Air Arabia?I checked out your site and what a huge fleet and choice there is NOT! Scarebus A320 thats it?BA Virtual well a few facts about them! Firstly they dont have a waiting list of over a hundred pilots anymore. Probably take just a few days to get in there pilot turn over is quite high lately. If you do get in avoid the forums at all cost! Its inhabited by Egotistical were never wrong types. You say something in there that the Elite posters (those with lots of stars too there name) and your out of the door.Talk about throw your toys out of the cot!! Recently a few members were banned when Mangement held a poll on codeshares which was obviously provoked by a Senior Elite member! One week was allowed for the vote and during that time the server was transferred but unfortuanately was offline longer than a day. Which could have been seen as coincidence (NOTE:- I Said COULD have been). Just bad luck but no extension given to that fact.Even with a democratic system like that they still had a few individuals disagreeing from the Elite posters who lost! But where they thrown out? NO cause there the elite group.Worst was the post on there front page about this whole affair! A proffesional VA endorsed by the Airline they mimic? Wow talk about reality! urprised they have not got a Pilots Union to call a strike. My advice stands look around and use false identitys to join these so called proffesional VAs who hide behind passwords and think there superior.

February 2, 200521 yr WOW!! Mr brightside hu? A little pessimistic dont you think? Trust me 'dude' you would feel a whole lot better if you took your finger out ;)Secondly, NO I am not DESPERATE for people to join my va; as most good Va mangers, I try to handle all of my VA's opperations with professionalism and dedication. To me it doesnt matter wether one person joins my va or not, I believe that people should just get the best experience possible when flying for a va. (Believe it or not I am NOT a pilot for BA virtual - then why would I advertise them?) I advertised BA virtual and American Virtual not because I am in anyway affiliated with them, but because I believe that they are two good examples of Virtual Airlines that ALL VAs should strive for. They are PROFESSIONALS in their respective fields. Now, If I may ask you sir, what virtual airline do you fly for? Do you enjoy your flight simulation experiences - or do you waste your time on here degrading other vas and flamming?Just R-E-L-A-X ;)Arman
February 2, 200521 yr Arman, you don't think your application form is somewhat of an overkill for a virtual airline? ;) And do you actually need an A320 rating to be a member? In that case I assume you don't have many pilots :(
February 3, 200521 yr This is what I love about Forums! No one reads what is actually written duh!!! :)Arman, Pacificflyer is absoluating spot on in describing the antics of a large VA with the egos to match it! Oh yes I was with that illustrious VA for 18 months before getting shfted by the Ego crew who like you cant read posts in the context they were written. Yep this kind of thread "Looking for a VA to signup" attracts all the wannabe Virtual Airlines who think they got the best to offer. I read your reply Arman and found it very Patronising. Does little to convince me that you VA is proffessionally run! Do you know the meaning of the word proffessional? Yes I will describe you as a Dedicated Amateur Enthusiast who believes in what he personnally can offer but your not or anyone else proffesional.I looked at you VA and would suggest you do some more ground work before you go bragging about the choice you offer! Like was pointed out you only have the Airbus A320 which I assume is your favorite Aircraft, dont offer much choice do you. Everything else you claim to have is superficial to the obvious 1 Aircraft type to fly.Man you really need to look at yourself if you think that your up to the standard of those BIG VAs you named. Going back to the original thread!Just because a VA is Big dont mean to say its better! VAs that brag a lot are also not that fantastic. ITS YOUR CHOICE which VA you want to join but from my eperiance those that dont badger its pilots are the best.
February 3, 200521 yr The Applicaion is not an overkill I dont think. We just want to keep things as realistic as possible, so sue us! Basically that question means can you fly airbus on simulators? And if not then we can teach the basics of flying Airbus instead of boeing. thats it no big deal really!Arman
February 3, 200521 yr Look, I am not claiming to be the biggest or the best. No-one is. I think that EVERY va is different (unique) in their own way and EVERY VA offers something that others dont and a different EXPERIENCE. I never claim to be the most professional or the biggest. I say all the time we strive to be professional in all of our operations. See the word? Strive? it means to TRY! We are NOT by FAR the best, but we TRY just like every other va does. I have been flight simming for around 7 years now, and just in MY experience it seems that the reasons most VAs are dying is because they are all offering the same thing, failing to attract pilots and not updating their sites! Change is always there in the aviation world, (every 28 days in most cases!) and if the VAs dont change regularly to accomodate the services and expectations that the pilots EXPECT them to have then, well, they arent going to do very well are they?THE EXPERIENCE is what people seek when they look for a new va. I in MY opinion just believe that I must STRIVE to achieve what BA virtual and other sucessful vas have because for me, they have set a mark, a standard that I hope to achieve one day. And if we are to talk about PROFESSIONALISM, i think those BIG vas set all other vas to shame!Too add, the A320 is not my favourite Aircraft, and I normally fly the A330-200 :) but the thing is since I am mimicing the original va, I have to use the same aircraft that they use! They will however be purchasing A330s soon. I will not restrict my pilots however, if they want to fly using a different aircraft they may!Now can we drop the subject? I mean its pointless to argue about this. Everyone has different views and standards that they expect to see in VAs. Its pointless arguing about our different preferences ;)Take careArman Motiwalla
