September 17, 200223 yr I finally made a really cool trim wheel for my home cockpit but I find I have trouble using the AP altitude select now. For some reason the wheel seems to "take over" and the plane won't level out at the right altitude. Has anyone else seen this and/or found a way around it? Thanks!David
September 17, 200223 yr make sure the wheel is centerd. if not youll keep climbing or descendingGen. Ernesto AlvarezNational CommanderVirtual Civil Air Patrolhttp://ealvarez.net/vcap.jpg
September 17, 200223 yr Hmmm, that would definitely do it I guess but it takes some of the fun out of having the wheel in the first place! I know Go Flight offers a trim wheel. Does anyone know if you have to do anything special to use AP with that?David
September 18, 200223 yr Author I have a USB CH stick with built in trim wheels as extensions of the axis pots. If the combo setting of the stick axis pot plus trim pot is beyond or near the end points of the axis software range and the AP trim manipulation takes the value beyond limits, the condition you describe can occur. It is best not to have your trim too far off center so the AP is not fighting it.
