New B-24 Incredible! But...

Featured Replies

I installed the new B-24 package uploaded to the library today, and have taken her out for a couple of hours of low-level flight around Atlanta. I'm most impressed! The textures look incredibly gorgeous in all their ugly, dirty grandeur, the windows show each crewmember at their respective positions, and the included panel looks pretty realistic as well (just one incompatability that I quickly fixed). What's bugging me though is the sound. It sounds great, but for some reason I only hear the left side engines while seated in the cockpit. If I turn and look left or right, I hear some sound out of the right speaker, but straight ahead, it's all left channel only. Is there a parameter in the sound.cfg that can be tweaked to fix this, or perhaps the aircraft.cfg?Other than this one little problem, I highly recommend you try this plane out. Just use a gentle touch on the stick... it tends to be very sensitive to elevator input.

Try putting this in the sound.cfg: Just copy and paste this into it and it should work.[sOUND_ENGINE]number_of_engines=2eng1_combustion=COMBUSTION.1.00eng2_combustion=COMBUSTION.1.00eng1_non_combustion=NON_COMBUSTION.1.00eng2_non_combustion=NON_COMBUSTION.1.00eng1_prop=PROP.1.00eng2_prop=PROP.1.00eng1_starter=starterAeng2_starter=starterBeng1_shutdown=shutdownAeng2_shutdown=shutdownBeng1_combustion_start=combstartAeng2_combustion_start=combstartB

I installed it in FS2002 although it said it was for CFS. Works GREAT! Flew it at Honolulu. I did not notice the sound problem yet. Will try it again. I will post a screenshot in the screenshots forum of it in line at the taxiway waiting for takeoff. I did notice that there was a missing gauge (HP61.elevator_trim.gau). I don't have that anywhere in FS2000, FS2002 or any of the CFS's. Do you have this gauge? Thanks, Bob.

The B-24 is a four engine A/C. Your sound.cfg above only states two engines. Do we need to modify it for the four engines? Thanks, regards, Bob.

That fixed it, thanks!

I get the sound of the number 3&4 engine as it shuts down but not while it is running. I tried the sound config below but it did not work.

Don't wish to pour any cold water on this project, but I have a lot of B-24s in my FS2002 hangar; isn't this just another rework of the CFS skin, adding in Paul's panel and Aaron's sounds? Does it do anything the default plane doesn't?What I would love to see one day, rather than the usual reversed decals, is a rework of the B-24 to show some of the earlier configurations with the split turret up forward i.e. one for gun, one for bomb aimer. Any B-24 modellers out there?Mark "Dark Moment" BeaumontEDIT: Here's my own rework of the single window CFS aircraft, in the colours of "WURFLESS", which I repainted for her navigator. She was eventually lost after he had flown her on 30 missions.http://www.swiremariners.com/wurf2.jpghttp://www.swiremariners.com/wurf3.jpghttp://www.swiremariners.com/cxkaitak.htmlhttp://www.swiremariners.com/reds.htmlhttp://www.swiremariners.com/cxkaitakv3.jpg

Bump ... anyone know of a B-24 with separate forward gun and bomb aimer positions rather than the single (later) window?Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/cxkaitak.htmlhttp://www.swiremariners.com/reds.htmlhttp://www.swiremariners.com/cxkaitakv3.jpg
