autogen tree size way too big ?

Recommended Posts

Guest

Is there a way to make the autogen trees smaller, maybe by creating a new set of texture files for them ? I've always felt the trees are way too big, but after seeing Scott Bolster's comparison video (Real Life vs. FS2002 Movie) as posted on flightsim.com, I am sure they should be at least 50% smaller.Any suggestions / opinions on this ?thks, Dr.J.

I believe the trees are intentionally too large. If you were to make them actual size, you'd have to display a lot more of them in order to create a believable forest. This would accordingly drive framerates down considerably.Misha

There is actually a good fix for the conifers/ pines, it is the conifers.zip. What it does is like you said, instead of one big criss crossed tree, he put 2 small pines on the texture so you get 4 small one sided pines, looks really good from a distance and more realistic, especially if you fly the northern areas.Regards, Michael http://www.geocities.com/res052cd/cmhbanner.gif
