need help tweaking airfile

Featured Replies

Hi to all I need some help tweaking the airfile for the Meljet 747. I am finding that when i descend even at idle throttle and a 2000 fpm descent the speeds are reaching over 400knts. is there any way to fix this i.e. adjusting the drag by playing around with the airfile? appreciate any help with this.

I've found the same thing. The flight dynamics need adjustment. I hope Melvin Rafi will make the necessary adjustments himself to create a uniform FDE for all versions.Eric

Hi to all: Herv

You can go in to the aircraft.cfg file and change the values for induced and parasite drag by altering the values themself. For Melvin's 747 [Northwest] I changed both values from 1.0 to 2.5 This seems to have helped some in terms of the aircraft in descent and also during approach. Induced drag is drag produced when lift is produced, and parasite drag is the frictional forces on the fuselage and surfaces as they move through the air. There is also a flap drag value in the aircraft.cfg file that controls spoiler effectiveness. I am experimenting with that one as the spoilers can be overpowering.Separately, I also found that the fuel flow values were way too low in cruise conditions, and so have reduced the fuel flow scalar value to 0.6 [for starters].Hope this helps. Rick
