July 6, 200223 yr I have a BD7II, in difference to the BD7 it has an additional DDR DRAM slot (3 in all). I just bought and installed a 3rd stick of 256 PC-2100, and it's not recognized at all (that 3 * 256M in all now). I see nothing on the FAQ at ABit, and the BIOS updates don't mention anything about fixing this. Anyone else had this issue? Thanks. (I've also posted at Tomshardware, but would appreciate any advice that people here may have).P4 1.8G (512K cache)768M PC-2100 Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.
July 7, 200223 yr Bruce,Have you taken a stick out and slotted in the new on to rule it out as being a dud? Cheers,John TavendaleTextures by Tavers - https://www.facebook.com/texturesbytavers
July 7, 200223 yr Author Hi John,Yes- I have tried 3 sticks in this 3rd slot now. Very wierd... I'm wondering if the 512K cache in the P4 has an effect on the amount of RAM that can be made available. The ABit BD7 that I had originally wouldn't work with one of these CPU's, it needed a BIOS flash (I traded mine back for a BD7II, which had just come out at that time, and which could take this CPU).Thanks for your interest.Bruce. July 7, 200223 yr hmm interesting.. never heard of that one before I doubt the amount of cache on a CPU has makes any difference to the amount of physical Ram you can run.Do you access newsgroups at all? Try asking on alt.comp.periphs.mainboard.abit Someone on their may be in the know :) Cheers,John TavendaleTextures by Tavers - https://www.facebook.com/texturesbytavers
July 10, 200223 yr Author Seems that the 845i chip will only support 4*DRAMs, and of course with DDR, that's 2 sticks.Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.
