November 7, 200223 yr Since I installed new GeForce drivers for my G3 Ti card (for which I first disabled the old drivers and device in DM, and also removed registry settings for nVidia), I've noticed an occasional issue with sound. I'll occasionally launch FS, and there's no enginr sound, although I have been able to hear the flaps sound. Wierd. Any ideas? Thanks.Windows XPSound chip is imbedded onto an ABit BD-7II. 512M of PC-2100, P4 1.8 Northwood.I've had no trouble since making this computer (myself, 6 months ago), until now. Bruce. November 7, 200223 yr Have you tried using Windows Media Player outside of fs2002 to see if the sound plays? Go to the sound.cfg file and read what sounds are used for engine sounds. Go the that aircraft sound folder and double click on the different sounds. If one doesn't play or it says it is missing an Audio Codec, then you can see if all your audio codecs are installed. You can right click the sound, select properties, summary or details tab, and read the sound information plus codec. To check you codec on Win98/ME, open control panel, select Multimedia, Devices Tab, select the Audio Compression Codecs. At the minimum you need:Microsoft IMA ADPCM CODECMicrosoft ADPCM CODECMicrosoft PCM ConverterIf they are installed check to see if they have been turned off by selecting each one and click properties. If they are missing, use the Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Windows Setup, Multimedia, Details, Audio Compressions and any other items you want to install, click OK an follow the instructions. You may need your Win98/ME CD.For WinXP, Open device manager, open Sound Video and Game Controllers, double-click Audio codecs, Properties Tab, and see if the above are listed (shortened titles). If they are installed check to see if they have been turned off by selecting each one and click properties. If they are missing, insert your WinXP CD and try a recover/reinstall. Bill Sieffert
