GF4 Ti4200 or GF3 Ti200 for P3 1 gig computer?

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,My computer is a Dell P3 1 gig (512 sdram) using a GForce 2 440mx.I'd want to upgrade the video card as I like to fly FS2002. Currently my computer does fairly well with most display sliders maxed. But, I'd like to have more graphics power when I'm flying in highly intensive areas and would like to lessen the problem with the dreaded "blurries".My computer's power supply is rated for only 200 watts but Dell has said I could install a Gforce 4 Ti4200.But, I've read various posts on the forums which said that a P3 1 gig computer would not have enough power to take advantage of the GForce 4 Ti4200's capabilities. The posters suggest that a GForce 3 Ti(200 or 500) would be a better choice as my machine could properly handle it and it would give me a good boost. Also the GForce 3 would be a lot less expensive.I'd appreciate some feedback from you folks as to the best way to go in my situation. Gforce 4 Ti4200 or GForce 3 Ti200/500?Also, would I see much of a difference with a card with 128mg instead of 64mg?Thanks in advance,Howard

I own a 4200 and love it. The 64MB model has faster memory and is the best bang for the buck. I would get the 4200 and possibly carry it into your next system.200 watts? ouch
