I totally agree Kevin - I hardly ever fly the 185 for that reason. I can't understand why developers wouldn't give us the option of clear glass.... I have the Alabeo Waco and Staggerwing - both excellent... Have a good day.... Howard

All is ok - must have been problem with computer at library I eas using - Orbx was ok on home computer

Hi Kevin - Me too! Carenado's C185F is a wonderful plane but I want to be able to look out at the fantastic Orbx scenery..... I've Googled web mant times, but haven't found an answer. Have you found any answer yet to getting clear glass for the 185F? FYI, I did find clear glass for the Sibwings AN-2 which is a fantastic airplane - clear glass makes a major difference. While I love the 185F, I don't fly it much only because of the glass..... Thanks Howard

HI Folks - I recently updated my Windows 7 64 bit os with Windows 7 SP1. When I try to start FSX I get a message that a problem was encounteredf and it can't start FSX. No further details are given. I googled the probelm and found many others had the same problem, but couldn't find a good solution. Has anyone here had or heard of the problem and how to fix it? Thanks Howard

Hi Bert - I installed the Highmemfix and it seems to have elliminated the problems I was having with the Islander. I've done a bunch of flights with it and purposely did a lot of view changes, location changes etc. with no problems at all. The Kodiak is another issue. Now it seems to hang up sometimes when I'm loading a flight with the Kodiak or when I change from another airplane to the Kodiak. Here's what happened: 1. Changed aircraft from default C208 to Kodiak got error - 2. got same error when trying to change from a location to another also with the Kodiak 3. Howdy, I posted this in the CTD forum but I have thoughts that the problem may be video card related so I'm posting it here - I hope it's ok to post here as well - I'm having some weird problems with my 2 year old system since I installed the BN-2 Islander and Quest Kodiak payware aircraft. What happens with the Islander is that sometimes when I change views (outside to VC or back again or other view changes), or from map view back to VC, or even when I change the date/time or location - my display becomes corrupted in a variety of ways. One way is that it looks as if the computer didn't fully redraw the display and I have to restart FSX. Sometimes with the Islander, I'd find that the VC is missing after a view change and I'm looking out at the correct scene without a VC but only with one or 2 small instruments floating in front (must restart FSX). The problem with the Kodiak is that I'd be flying along and all of a sudden the computer freezes..... Hasn't happened often but enough to tell me something is wrong. Those are the only aircraft I have those problems with.... All other freeware and payware aircraft don't cause any problems at all. (Carnado 185 and 172, A2A cub, Ants Sierra and Ultralight etc) I fly only in ORBX North America and Australia scenery along with Tongass Fjords and Return to Misty Moorings additions. FPS is set at 20 and is smooth - My computer has been excellent up to the time I started flying the Islander and Kodiak which I recently purchased. I wonder if my video card could be causing the problems - since it's an oem card I don't know anything about it's specs aside from the fact that it's a GTX 460. I do know that it only has one connector to the power supply instead of 2 in branded cards. I wanted to replace the card with a more powerful branded card when I got the computer but found my power supply didn't have another connector for the card. Hi Folks, I find that Flight is running about 20 c degrees hotter than FSX - rough amount. I havent had any problems with shut down as yet, but I'm concerned about GPU life. Howard

Hi Folks, I remember there was an FSX mod of the C123 by Norcal which worked well without any more mods- just install it and off you go. I believe it was the FS9 version which the Norcal site updated for FSX. Norcal had lots of great FS9 aircraft they updated for FSX and all worked well. I'll check it out and get back to you. Howard

Hi Gary -I remember downloading it and trying (about 5 years a go), not sure I remember the result - sorry. You said "I'd download the FSPanelStudio demo, but you can't save the panel file even if the missing Cessna_182.RMP was found." Why can't you save the panel file?Suggestion: Why not disable Cessna_182.RMP (put // in front of it) and see what is missing from the panel when you display the aircraft. Then perhaps you can find a replacement for it if you can figure put what it is.The c123 from fs9 is excellent and I've used it in FSX. I'll try loading back into FSX again and see what happens - I'll let you know...........Good luck Howard

Good post Adam - agree completely. Also his 748 comes with many many excellent repaints. Rick's other planes such as the Chipmunk are also excellent. Amazing how FS2004 aircraft can do so well in FSX. Howard

HI Folks, A few months a go I bought a new computer which does a good job with FSX/FTX and a variety of payware aircraft. The only problem I noticed is that when panning in the VC I notice distortion of the VC view. It's hard to describe (but here goes), and I couldn't capture it with a screen shot. When I'm in the VC of an aircraft and start panning with the hat switch, any parts of the cockpit which have vertical edges become distorted. By that I mean the vertical edges do not remain straight, rather they become jagged and don't clear until I stop panning. I then tried FSX on a friends computer which is about 5 years old running WinXP with an AMD dual core and a Geforce video card (not sure which). The distortion was the same on his computer as on my new one.Does anyone else have the same problem? Any suggestion? I'd appreciate any thoughts you might have.Thanks Howard

Hi - I have a stock unclocked Hewlett Packard 580T - I7 950,GTX 460 (OEM), single 1t hard drive, single monitor, dvd burner, dvd reader - thats it. Runs FSX well with Orbx scenery and some payware aircraft (Captn Sim C-130, A2A Cub, Carenado 172, 185, T34). Keep in mind the OEM GTX 460 only requires 1 plug instead of 2 in the branded ones - but it works well.The factory power supply is 460 watts. I haven't had ctd s or other problems associated with low power supplies. I realize I can't add much else to the system, but thaks fine with me. hope this helps. Howard

Hi, Sorry I can't help you out as far as the UK is concerned, but here's what I did when looking for a computer in the US. I used Google to search using the company name I was interested in and the word complaint. I wasn't looking for Cyberpower, but the company I was checking on came back with many many (too many) interesting and unhappy complaints as well as a page from the Better Business Bureau - very interesting reading. The BBB report plus the long list of complaints I read, convinced me not to buy from the company I was searching. I always do such searches before buying products especially expensive ones! Hi ALan - I have the same problem but mine is definitely due to a known problem with some models of Nvidia cards (mine is a Gforce 6800gs). It only happens in full screen mode. Question - do have this problem in both fullscreen and windowed modes? When did the problem start? Did it happen just after you installed a new addon or made a change of some sort?Howard
