Mystery gauges - FSX

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,I'm trying to eliminate some FS98 gauges from a freeware FS9 airplane that I want to use in FSX. It's an excellent aircraft (C123) with a very good panel when used in FS9.I planned to replace the FS98 gauges with similar ones that would work in FSX. Here's the problem: I wrote down the names of the FS98 gauges which FSX identified when I tried to load the C123. I must be going crazy or more senile than I thought, because I can't find those FS98 gauges listed in the C123's panel.cfg!I'd appreciate any ideas you may have.thanks,

Thanks Doug, I'm downloading the demo now and will give it a try.
Carabou, did you ever resolve this issue? I'm getting the same report pop up for the file Cessna_182.RMP. A search of the panel.cfg reveals no such gauge.I'd download the FSPanelStudio demo, but you can't save the panel file even if the missing Cessna_182.RMP was found. Spelling is suspicious, like it should be Cessna_182.RPM.Gary

Hi Gary -I remember downloading it and trying (about 5 years a go), not sure I remember the result - sorry. You said "I'd download the FSPanelStudio demo, but you can't save the panel file even if the missing Cessna_182.RMP was found." Why can't you save the panel file?Suggestion: Why not disable Cessna_182.RMP (put // in front of it) and see what is missing from the panel when you display the aircraft. Then perhaps you can find a replacement for it if you can figure put what it is.The c123 from fs9 is excellent and I've used it in FSX. I'll try loading back into FSX again and see what happens - I'll let you know...........Good luck Howard

Hi Howard,Saving changes is not enabled in the demo version of FSPanelStudio.I can't // Cessna_182.RMP because I can't find it, that's what the problem is. Just like you said at the beginning, "I must be going crazy or more senile than I thought, because I can't find those FS98 gauges listed in the C123's panel.cfg!"Gary

Send me by PM the exact name of the airplane file amd where it is and I'll try and fix it for you. There is a c123 at Simviation that has only a few bad FS98 gauges which I have fixed for FSX. Bob.

Hi Folks, I remember there was an FSX mod of the C123 by Norcal which worked well without any more mods- just install it and off you go. I believe it was the FS9 version which the Norcal site updated for FSX. Norcal had lots of great FS9 aircraft they updated for FSX and all worked well. I'll check it out and get back to you. Howard

Howdy - Google norcal c123 and you'll see lots of listings for it for download - well worth it - excellent work. Suggest you check out other Norcal planes as well. Have fun..... Howard

I agree with vololiberista. Buy FS Panel studio. Since you have tried the demo five years ago a lot has changed in the program. It got better with every update. Next to FSX this is the program I am using the most. When you open the panel config file of an older aircraft it will display the problem gayges with a purple square around it. You just delete it and add a newer version of it. resize with the mouse and drag it to where you want it. Save and the problem is solved. If you don't like what you have saved, there is a backup panel.cfg file that the program generates with every save. You also get the options to resize pop-up windows without changing the bitmap, and you can also edit in notepad from the program. Yout Flightsim life will change forever!
