Best drivers for Win98SE

Featured Replies

I was just curious as to which vid drivers Win98SE folks are using with their Ge4 cards. I am currently running 29.42s. . .Also, if anyone could let me know which Via 4 in 1's are giving the least problems I would appreciate that too. I see that 4.43V are the latest, was wondering if anyone has had any problems yet? I run the latest 4 in 1 drivers and nvidia's latest 40.xx drivers. No problems whatsoever. Then again I run Win2K.

I'm at woprk and cannot cite chapter and verse, but I also run the 29.42s with a GeForce2 Max400 64 and have found them the best for my rig. As for the viachip drivers, the last time I tried to upgrade, my computer froze while loading the icons on my desktop. I did the uninstall routine to go back to the original via drivers shipped with my mobo, a tyan 1854S. Sherm

Lucky You !see my post "FS2002 lockups in Win2000" and my reply to "which GeForce 4 Ti4600." above I've had nothing but trouble since I upgraded to: MSI Athlon XP2100+, MSI GeForce 4Ti4600(128mb), 512mbRAM & Win2K pro.The lockups are ruining my enjoyment of the sim, I'm having to run my AI at 10% or less when I could have it at 100% on my old machine if I put up with the frame rate drop( & I haven't added much since I upgraded). I'm also going through my AI aircraft and replacing the ones with big texture files.(Mike Stone's B757's seem to be a big problem & I got rid of any POSKY aircraft a while ago!) When I can afford it I think I'm going back to Intel Pentium . Aidan. :'(

Heyyy !I solved my lockup problem by reducing the CPU FSB clock speed from 133MHz to 122MHz (underclocking). Due to the GeForce Ti4600 128mb Graphics card I still seem to be getting good frame rates (locked at 30fps) but there's a slight performance hit at busy airports.Aidan (EGNV):-walksmile
