November 20, 200223 yr Hi there guys, I think this forum has already a hundred of post on this matter, but Is there some that can tell me if the edimensional glasses are worth to be bought?I heard that they are excellent in every situation, some other times I read that they are good with virtual cockpit and not with 2d panel like the DreamFleet 737-400 or PSS 747-400. With the specs below:Abit Sa6 motherboard400 mb ramPIII 866 mhzabit t400 siluro geforce2 64 mbWin 98seFS2002 prodo you think the glasses can work to justify the purchaseI hope to have an advice from youThank you in advanceMichael, Italy
November 21, 200223 yr I don't own these glasses, but there is a very favorable review online now at www.flightsim.com.sherm
November 23, 200223 yr I have the ELSA glasses which are similiar.. You will need to download the NVIDIA 3D Stereo drivers. You also have to make sure that your monitor has a high enough Htz rating. Ideally 100-120 Mhz @ 1024 x 768. Check your specs on your monitor..Hopefully, the eDimensional glasses will have a better configuration utility. In FS 2002, I had to delete my FS2002.cfg file and let the FS 2002 rebuild it. Which means I lost settings like AI Traffic addons etc. I wish there was a utility I could use to properly configure my current FS2002.CFG so they toggle on with the glasses. It is a real pain in the neck to get everything set up properly. Once set up it works pretty well Then I have to play games setting the resolution to a lower resolution, then exit, then re-start FS set it back to 1024 x 768. Then finally the 3 D kicks and it looks great. But I do have some flicker but not too bad. The thing I don't like is looking at Pete Dowson's Adventure Window. It is very hard to read in 3D. However the Virtual Cockpits look awesome with depth perception. If you have Windows XP, you may also need a utility to force XP to stay at a certain resolution. There seems to be a bug with XP on not saving selected Stereo 3d Resolution. There are several utilities to help with this...Also operating things outside the 3D view like Keyboard and flight controls can be a pain. The NVIDIA Stereo drivers do allow toggle on and off. So you can set the 3D on for takeoffs and landings and off for enroute flying (Unless you are flying in Alaska, etc where there are mountains, etc)So it is not just load drivers and your are good to go (at least with ELSA glasses).. You may have to do some tinkering. Maybe some eDimensional users can enlighten me on the procedures they use to get everything working.. Did you have to rebuild the FS 2002.CFG file and tinker with resolutions, etc?Hope this helps..Barry
November 23, 200223 yr No problem whatsoever. I had the Nvidia stereo drivers already loaded, so al I had to do was plug in the Edimensional stuff, restart computer, and set the effects to my liking through the tab "stereo properties". I deliberately refrained from using the Edimensional CDRom, these things tend to produce more problems than they solve. If anybody wants to see how stereo looks before they buy expensive electronic glasses: load stereo drivers, set stereo to "anaglyph", get one of those cellophane red/and blue stereo thingummies, and you're all set. Have fun!Jaap Verduijn.
November 23, 200223 yr Did you have to do anything to FS2002.CFG?That's where I am having issues.. I have to start FS 2002, and play with the resolution. I also have to set my monitor via a utility called Hz Monitor to 1024 x 768 120 Hz. Plus my FS 2002.CFG had to be rebuilt, which means I lost all of my AI Traffic add-on configuration, ETC.Thanks!Barry
November 23, 200223 yr Nothing of the kind. Both Windows and FS2002 remember my settings perfectly, and once set stays set.My resolution is 1024x768x16 both for stereo and non-stereo, and the refresh rate is 120 Hz for stereo and 85 Hz for non-stereo. Computer switches back and forth automatically, also after I set different resolutions for stereo and non-stereo, which I do sometimes when there's something non-stereo that I like to see in a very high resolution.Never had to change anything in the config file; might just be an Elsa thing, for it sure ain't no Edimensional thing (grin)!Jaap Verduijn.
