January 27, 200323 yr Please exceuse the very off topic post. For those of us in the US, it's almost tax time. I've heard the latest Turbo Tax product around has some sort of "spyware" included. This could be just hype from people that don't like taxes, who knows. Anyone here heard of any issues from installing this? Thanks,Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.
January 27, 200323 yr There should be no issues as long as you install it on one computer. The problem is that even if you uninstall Turbo Tax,it doesn't uninstall the program that checks if copy is valid.http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/artic...-2003Jan24.htmlYou should be able to find more details there.
January 27, 200323 yr I don't know why someone would want to install it on more than one computer anyway! Are they going to send IRS even more money the second time around?:-lol Bill Sieffert
January 27, 200323 yr I posted about this in the general (hangar chat) forum a couple weeks ago. It should still be there. Some of the initial fears may have been a little exaggerated, but not much. Be sure to see the update I posted where Intuit responded to the outcry.Dan
January 27, 200323 yr Author Thanks all, for your reples. My "better half" does the taxes for us both, and is very anxious about anything that remains on the system after the application is un-installed. She also copies DVD's (legally, I hope! :) ) that she generates as a result of her digital photography hobby, and is concerned that this may prevent her from doing that. Thanks for the reference to the other thread, Dan- I'll go look for that. We often install TT to both a desktop (which is used for filing electronically) and a laptop, allowing her to work on taxes at other locations off-line; it sounds like this cannot be done anymore. Thanks again for all your help,Bruce.Edit: Thanks Dan- I went to the other message, then to the Intuit messages at www.intuit.comThere appears to be no discussion on apps left installed after a TT un-install. For anyone this may be the more dangerous issue, rather than the inconvenience of not being able to share the CD. It does appear that one can install on multiple computers in order to share the tax session at different locations, you can only print or file from the one compuer that was activated (I assume one can import a file from one computer to another still). Thanks again. BK. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.
