This may seem a daft question.........

I have a Gigabyte GA-8IRXP MoBo with 400MHz FSB and up to 24x frequency multiplier. Currently it is set at 22x100 for my 2.2GHz CPU.Is my limit a P4 2.4GHz, or can I accomodate the 2.60GHz version? Thanks,Mike :-wave

You are probably limited to 2.4GB unless GigaByte changes the BIOS to add more multipliers. However, the board may not be able to handle anything higher than 2.4GB with the other components on the MOBO. Visit www.gigabyte.com.tw for more information.

Thanks, kinda what I thought. In fact I posted my query after some extensive searching, including Gigabyte's sites and using Google, but got no joy anywhere. Sadly there appears to be no way to communicate such queries directly to Gigabyte themselves. My board uses the F7 BIOS and the latest seems to be F9 (no F8). Scanning the BIOS revision history there is nothing to suggest that the multiplier range was increased.Ah well, if push comes to shove, I found a report at one of these overclocking sites where they managed easily to o/c the 2.4 to 2.9!!Just thinking about FS9, don't you know ;) Then again, surely FS9/MSFS2003/Century of Flight will run fine on 2+ GHz systems, maybe even sub 2GHz systems as well. Here's hoping!Mike :-wave
