GeForce4 TI4200 and Power Supply

Featured Replies

How critical is power supply to the operation of this video card ? Is there a minimum power requirement to run it ? I currently have a Dell 4100 system.ThanksJohn

It seems to me that I looked at the Dell 4100 only has a 200w powersupply - http://docs.us.dell.com/docs/systems/dzuul/techovu.htm#power . So it depends on what you have installed presently whether your powersupply would be capable of providing the needed current/voltage to your new card.I have seen on several graphics card boxes, a recommendation of a minimum 350w powersupply. I have also seen posters indicating they are running as small as 250w powersupply with a GeForce 4600Ti 64MB card.I think you will be on a near edge of being able to support the power requirement of the GeForce 4200Ti card. You might consider buying a new powersupply at the same time you install the card or wait and see if there really is a problem, then upgrade the powersupply.

My GFr TI4400 runs on 250W - no problems. (and I have 3 HDs, CDRW, overclocked 1700+, etc)
