March 4, 200323 yr Hi All, I recently got a Dell 8250 PIV with a Redeon 9700 TX video card (this makes Flyer Ken a happy, happy boy!). The system rocks, but... When I run FS full screen and then alt-tab out of it, and then try to go back into FS by pressing the icon on the taskbar, I get the blue sceen of death (no text).I'm using the default Dell drivers. My question is, would upgrading to the latest Catalyst drivers help, and has anyone with a system like mine done the upgrade successfully? Thanks in advance,
March 4, 200323 yr I just read on a forum (sorry, but I've been to so many forums and sites that I can't remember which one it was on) that you have to put FS2K2 into window mode from full screen before you alt-tab to minimize when running a Radeon card.Tim13
March 4, 200323 yr Author That's what I've been doing, but it's annoying because if you forget and hit alt-tab, that's the end of your FS session. I was hoping there was some kind of fix.
March 5, 200323 yr Try downlaoding and installing the Omega series drivers. I was running the Cat3.1's and while my framerates were amazing my image quality left a lot to be desired. I also had the same problem as you on occassion but have not had it since i changed drivers.Remember to uninstall the dell drivers from add and remove programs before you install the Omega drivers.Keep me postedBobby
March 5, 200323 yr Author Bobby, that worked thanks! I think the Dell drivers are based on older Catalyst drivers. Image quality is great.
March 25, 200323 yr Yeah... I think I have the same issue...where can I foind the OMEGA drivers you speak of?Thanks.
April 1, 200323 yr Thanks Greg...Do you think the Omega Drivers (2407) be OK with the Dell Motherboard and the ATI Radeon Pro or should I use Dell's latest offering? System currently rocks but I do get the BSOD if I don't Window mode FS first. ALso a big pain with FS NAV...!
