A Eye Opening Computer Tech Thread!

Featured Replies

http://forums.2cpu.com/showthread.php?thre...highlight=tweak I think "Jeh" is right on, and it kind of depresses me a little because I found myself falling into the "Tweeking" addiction. In that never ending attempt to make FS faster ;( P.S., You have to read the entire thread.

My god what a boring thread..LOL. Talk about geek banter back and forth..Do you like fast cars?. Do you like having the ability to choose between umpteen million speeds of processors and motherboards and video cards and heatsinks?LOL..If so you probably have us "Tweakers" to thank for it. That and a hell of a lot of smart engineers and code writers. Yes tweaking can become an addiction. Jeh may write drivers but some of those guys are way off. Anybody who thinks a machine that is built, OS installed and used is going to be as fast as one that has had someone with some performance optimizing experience get thier hands on it is sadly jaded.Tweaking is not for everyone. But ya know what?...If it wasn't for us tweakers....God what a boring world this computer world would be..The choice is yours...Which path you take is your own choice..Kinda like..The red pill or the blue pill..Bobby

Bobby - How much would ya charge to come up here and tweak mine ? :-lol

>Bobby - How much would ya charge to come up here and tweak>mine ? :-lolAre you flirting w me ? LOL But seriously, depends on where you are. I usually don't travel out of state. I have had people ship me their systems and have gone through them and than shipped them back to them. That could be an option.Bobby

I still think Jeh has valid points, And you shouldnt throw out the baby with the bathwater so to speak.

B, Didn't say Jeh didn't have good points. Some of them do seem to contradict what myself and quite a few others have experienced. I know he supposedly writes drivers and what not but he seems to have a problem w people who do tweak. Could it be that we are the people who by pushing stuff to the limit find the errors with the codes that people such as himself write?. I'm not saying that all the tweaks out there work all the time. Far from it. What I am saying is if you like to see how far something can go or how fast till it breaks by all means do it.. I seriously disagree w his statement that Mr. Gates and his cronies and Microsoft have given us a totally optimized system. Just as a point, XP will upon installation setup files depending on their intended use on different parts of the hard drive to optimize access times. Great idea right?? Good job Bill and the boy's. Only problem is to have it perform this operation regularly you need to enter a "TWEAK" in the system file to have it perform this on a regular basis. And before someone say's hey thats just a defrag, it's not. I say if your happy w it don't touch it. But for me fast isn't fast enough, smooth isn't smooth enough and if it can be improved, I'm going to try and improve it.Bobby

>Are you flirting w me ? ROFLMAO, No Bobby, LOL !! I could possibly ship it to you if it comes to the point - but I have it working pretty good now IMHO.But Intel has got me ###### - They just realeased their 800MHZ FSB and i can't afford anything again!

I used to read these tweaking threads quite a lot trying to milk another year out of a dated celeron 500 that couldn't overclock, etc. My favorite line was in a GeForce tweaking forum, anonymous in my mind (sorry anonymous!):"Dude I just tried out your Detonator tweak and it killed my dog!"That was funny.
