May 13, 200323 yr I really hope they can make enough supplies this time, AMD has been disappointing me with paper releases and low supplies. :(
May 13, 200323 yr well, but how impressive is supposed to be this new 400 FSB from AMD if Intel already has 800 FSB ? Am I missing something ?Michael J.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg Michael J.
May 13, 200323 yr >clearly show>that the latest Intel 3.0 with 800 FSB leaves everybody in the>dust (and specially the latest AMD hardwareNot true, they have not tested the 3200+ yet.
May 14, 200323 yr For overall performance a new 3G P4 riding an 800Mhz bus fueled with some XMS400 is going to be tuff to beat. Even for the 3200+. Can't wait for the prices to start plummeting on the 533Mhz FSB boards and CPU's. Should be able to put my 6Ghz Linux cluster together by christmas... ;)Bobby
May 14, 200323 yr >Not true, they have not tested the 3200+ yet.maybe so but Tom's Hardware already tested. I think below statements speak for themselves:The Athlon XP 3200+ has laid claim to the title of "Fastest Desktop CPU." But in reality, though, it is something entirely different: the mighty value champ has degraded into a pusillanimous paper tiger. Although, our testing engineers only found fault with the aggressive model-numbering system. The benchmark tests, on the other hand, leave no room for doubt: XP 2800+ would have been a more realistic label for the processor, which wouldn't have been a problem for anyone, if AMD still wants to go toe-to-toe with Intel's P4. But the 3200 label is much too aggressive - especially since Intel will be introducing an increased FSB clock for its lower-clocked P4 CPUs. Michael J. Michael J.
