May 26, 200323 yr HiI'm thinking of getting a new system around the time FS2004 is released, and to save me copying files to CD and transfering them, I was thinking of connecting the PCs together with a direct cable connection. Can anyone tell me what sort of data transfer speed this would give, or are there any other alternatives?ThanxAK Alaister Kay
May 27, 200323 yr If you are going from one computer to another using ethernet, you must get a special type of wire, a crossover ethernet wire I think its called. All that does is swap the Rx and Tx (Recieve and Send) lines on the ethernet cord so the computers can commnuicate with each other directly without a router or switch. Speeds depend on how long the cable is, but its generally pretty fast, a few MB/sec is common.
May 27, 200323 yr ok, go to compusa of frys electronics and buy PC Relocator, it is the best you can get for moving things across a network!!! it works extremely well, use Cat5E crossover cable for the network cabling
