June 11, 200322 yr Just bought 2 sticks of Crucial 512mb PC2100 RAM, at the same I ordered an XP3000+ Barton (333FSB) and an ASUS A7N8X mobo.Is the RAM uncompatible with the CPU? Is there anyway I can get them both to run in harmony? Thanks
June 11, 200322 yr YoThanks for the reply! I think I'll just buy some 2700 stuff now (cos I know that will definitely work) and wait for the 2100 sticks to arrive and just send them right back so the supplier can't moan. Thanks for your reply!
June 11, 200322 yr Hi Tom,the Asus A7N8X will allow you to set different FSB speeds for your CPU and RAM, so you could run it at 266MHz, and still run the CPU at 333MHz, but you wouldn't get optimal performance, as the speeds are not synchronised. I have the same board with the XP3000+ and 1GB of PC2700 RAM - I think you'll be very happy with your new system :).Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg
June 11, 200322 yr Hi GostaThanks for your reply. I've just ordered 2 x 512mb sticks of PC2700 DDR. Will send the PC2100 RAM back as soon as it arrives 2mrw. I hope I'll be happy too, it's certainly come at a price though :-)Cheers
