Video Card Upgrade

Featured Replies

My current system specs are:HP Pavilion 8700 PIII 733384 MB SDRAM16 MB TNT2The TNT2 card is not going to cut it in FS2k4. I want to upgrade to either a 32/64 MB GF2 GTS or GF3 Ti 500 until I can afford a new system. My first choice would be the Ti 500, but I'm worried about my power supply being insufficient. The GTS card is not quite as good, but I would expect it to be a better fit as these were available when I bought the machine.Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks,Joe

Also look into earlier ATI Radeon cards as well, like the 7xxx series. They are getting old but you could really get good deals with them. I am very happy with my Radeon 7200 64MB VIVO. As with the power supply, I think it would be powerful enough to run just about any card except the high end GF4 and Radeon 9xxx cards, where they require a power connector.

Zack,Thanks for the tip. I think CompUSA may have some Radeon 7xxx still in stock.Joe

Be careful at CUSA. I saw a GeForce 3 on the shelves for $199 last week. Seemed a little pricey...

I agree, CUSA is a little pricey. $70 for a TNT2 M64. That card can be had for about $25 at pricewatch.

Once you decide you can try newegg.com or pcnut.com for the best price and service.
