June 24, 200322 yr I have purchased a JETWAY v266B motherboard and an AMD XP2400 CPU to upgrade my system. This mobo supports the FSB266 type Athlons up to 2400 and also supports 133 SDRAM (which I intend to use) .The Jetway website specifically says that the mobo supports the XP2400 with a clock ratio setting of 15. My trouble is that the manual that came with the board and also the manual for download at the Jetway website only shows the settings for ratios up to 12.5. Now, the tech info on this board says that it is "jumperless" (which I find strange if it has a set of cpu ratio jumpers") - but I have noticed that the jumpers for the 5 switches are all set to "OFF" by default and I have read posts in NGs where people say that they set the mobo up "straight out of the box) .The only computer I have built was an INTEL P3 on an ASUS board which was "jumperless" and the machine booted up straight out of the box.Could somebody help me with this Thanks Barry
June 24, 200322 yr The CPU jumpers are in the BIOS. Not sure, but if the multiplier needed to get the CPU working at the proper clock spd aren't available, sounds like you will need a BIOS update to get the proper multiplier settings. Once you have the proper multiplier settings in the BIOS, it is a simple matter of changing a setting.BTW, the 133 SDRAM is lightyears slower on the bandwidth front than your FSB of the CPU. This means you will have a major slowdown in your system because your CPU and your RAM aren't sync'd on bus speed. You would, off the top of me head, need PC2700 to even things out.
June 24, 200322 yr Author I believe that you are correct -- but this mobo allows me to inexpensively upgrade to an XP2400 using my old 512 meg SDRAM and also my old Geforce2Mx vid card. I am simply looking for a slight improvement in framerates in FS2002 - right now my P3/1000 does most of what I want, but could do with just a slight improvement. I am not really looking for the max out of my system -- it is a matter of money really. But anyway, in time , with this MOBO, I can upgrade my RAM and also my vid card.Barry
