June 24, 200322 yr Hi.I would not do it, unless you have other reasons other then performance. I got the ATI to have a 2 monitor setup just to find out later that it would not 3D accelerate both monitors. In addition the luminosity / brightness was affected where I have to use two setups one for MSFS another for the other sims, i.e. FLYII, because at dusk and dawn, where I fly the MSFS mostly, it's too dark to see much of of the terrain, from cockpit view. If I set the ATI for MSFS every other sim is washed out.Keep what you have, and if you need another monitor, get a PCI card for $45.00 and you
June 24, 200322 yr Zerocool: IMHO, you really need to upgrade your processor along with the video card. Maybe, Wait till you can do both. While you'll see a major improvement in image quality, perfect antialaising and great looking textures with the 9800 Pro, you'll likely only see a moderate increase in framerates because of your processor limitations. I guess it depends on what other games/sims you like. Take a look at the 9500 Pro and 9700 Pro too. They're both quite a bit cheaper and do a great job too.Avcomeware:_____________________________________________________"If I set the ATI for MSFS every other sim is washed out."_______________________________________________________I don't know how you have your card set up; but I don't have that problem. I make no adjustments between sims. I'm currently running FS2k2; CFS2; IL2; F1 2002; QuakeIII; & FreespaceII. They all look great. Nothing washed out. No adjustments in color, brightness or contrast needed.
June 24, 200322 yr Hi.I will try to expand. In pic. 1 is what I try to avoid, see radios freq. display, unreadable, and ver dark terrain. Image was created in the 172SP, Spring, May, 2001, 19:05, fly into the Sun.In pics. 2 & 3 you can see the sky difference, in FlyII, this is not the worst case, in some light conditions the sky and clouds become all white, but sufficient to demonstrate the problem, for people that want to accept it, that is.Before someone comes with the argument of apples to apples, keep in mind the only thing that has changed is the Video card and the ability, or inability in this case, of the ATI to provide the latitude / attribute to compensate for some of the different utilities. In my GF card I was able to select combinations that would satisfy most needs, by using Color Vibrancy etc.Yes, I know I can adjust my monitor, but that would affect all my other utilities, Desktop etc. Yes I know that part of the problem is from MS, but this is what we have to work with. The point here is the inability to get a compromised setting, without having to change settings for every utility. The way I was able to get something that I use, and I am not happy with it, is to change the Game Gamma to 115. I hope this helps clarify this point, there are many others that I don
