GeForce 5200 Ultra

Featured Replies

I just installed this card along with the newest driver 44.03. I have seen many negative posts about the card, but its the one I have. Does anyone have any suggested software settings both for this card and for FS2k2Pro to get improved frame rates. I have seen an improvement in the clarity of the textures, but I have not noticed an increase in frame rate. Thanks

RMA it and save up some $ for a ti4200 or 9500 Pro.

The question is what card were you using before you upgraded?. Perhaps you are looking for more of an upgrade than you may actually be able to achieve. Also, you have to remember that FS is as much CPU dependant as it is GPU dependant. Fire off a list of your current hardware setup and let's see if we can help.Bobby

Thanks for your reply. I have a 2.0 Ghz Athlon CPU with 133 Mhz FSB. There is 512 MB of RAM at the same speed. I was using the on board video chip set at 64 MB shared memory. The driver was by SiS. I understand the CPU/GPU differential. What will the GPU help with regarding the sim? What are some recommended settings for the GeForce FX 5200 Ultra? I am using the newest driver (version 44.03?). I don't understand settings like anti-aliasing etc. I am typically getting frame rates varying from 8 to 25 depending on scenery density. Most airports are below 15 which makes landings and taxiing jerky and not responsive like I would want. Thanks again.Gary

Like I said, the 5200 is a piece of ****.It's worse then a GF3, worse then anything!Get a Ti4200 or 9500 Pro and throw the 5200 in the trash, seriously.

Your answer is impractical and not helpful. Please answer the questions asked.

Ok, I'll answer the question asked. There is NO way to make your game run faster with that card. Here is my answer that would help, go get a better card.Or you can turn every option off.Your choice.

Is it really that bad ? BTW What do you think of "GeForce FX 5600 Ultra" ?... Thx for your help..

The 5600 Ultra is a little worse then the 9600..Go for the 9500 Pro, it's a speedy little devil :)Check the benchmarks and reviews for the 5200 and 5600, they both...Are bad.The 5900 Ultra, on the other hand, is an awesome piece of hardware! But.. The 9800 Pro beats it :)

>Ok, I'll answer the question asked.>>There is NO way to make your game run faster with that>card.Your wrong. Flat out wrong. Why would you state such a misrepresentation?>Here is my answer that would help, go get a better card. Now there's a productive answer in a really helpful post>>Or you can turn every option off.Wrong again !!>>Your choice.Perhaps your choice should be to keep the myriad of useless posts you've put up on here lately to a minimum or try to provide useful information.Bobby

All I'm saying is a 5200 Is a piece of ****.If you had a 5600, I could help. Now, if you want it to run faster, get a tweaker prog and turn alot of stuff DOWN and turn off shadows and stuff in FS2002/04.Don't get P1ssed, I know video cards, the 5200 is...I've already said what it is.Sorry if this makes you feel bad, but the truth hurts, pal.

Mornin' Bobby,Do you have any recommendations based on what I have, not on what I should get? I did download the !aTuner.exe file that someone recommended in another thread. I have not installed it yet, I've been working several 12 hour days. Neither do I understand much about the many options in within the drivers themselves. Has anyone posted a tutorial regarding these options? My work in medical imaging involves Fourier transforms and frequency filtering in the 3D rendering of various organs, but that's the extent of my knowledge in computer graphics. Thanks for your help.Gary

Gary,Take a trip over to the tips and tricks section and you'll be able to find a myriad of setup hints and tips as well as tweaks. To many to mention here. If for some reason you run into a bind drop a pm to either Bigshot, Paul01 or myself and I'm sure we can help you out.Bobby

>All I'm saying is a 5200 Is a piece of ****.If you knew your hardware like you say you would realize that although not the greatest piece of hardware out there it is not a piece of crap.>>If you had a 5600, I could help. Why could you help w the 5600 and not the 52?. Almost identical cards???>>Now, if you want it to run faster, get a tweaker prog and turn>alot of stuff DOWN and turn off shadows and stuff in>FS2002/04.Spoken like a true Video card Guru.... :)>>Don't get P1ssed, I know video cards, the 5200 is...I've>already said what it is.>>Sorry if this makes you feel bad, but the truth hurts, pal.Doesn't hurt me in the least bit. And Pal is pushin' it. I don't even know you. These are your quotes....The 5600 Ultra is a little worse then the 9600.. Actually wrong again..A lot worseGo for the 9500 Pro, it's a speedy little devil Hey got one right there....:)Check the benchmarks and reviews for the 5200 and 5600, they both...Are bad.Bad is relative. There not the greatest but certainly not bad...The 5900 Ultra, on the other hand, is an awesome piece of hardware! But.. The 9800 Pro beats itOhhh almost had another one right..Well I'll give ya partial credit. The 5900 is a brilliant piece of hardware. But even a devout ATI guy such as myself admits defeat. The 9800 Does not beat...Unless you can show me a different review...My intent is not to flame. The purpose of these forums is to inform. But only with the correct Info can they fulfill that purpose.Bobby

Bobby, do you have a personal grudge against me?I said "If you had a 5600 Ultra, I could help"Actually, now that I think of it, I can't.Lemme dig up some reviews.Btw, the 9600 Pro and 5600 Ultra are basicly neck and neck, but alot of the time the 9600 Pro beats it.And the 9800 Pro wins over the 5900 Ultra sometimes. And the 5900 Ultra wins over the 9800 Pro sometimes. But do you remember when Nvidia made their "3dmark cheats"?It made their 5900 Ultra be better by 25%.Now, they took it out and it's worse.I'm not gonna search for the reviews/benchmarks, 'cause you can find em on your own. And"Don't get P1ssed, I know video cards, the 5200 is...I'vealready said what it is."Sorry if this makes you feel bad, but the truth hurts, pal."I WASN'T TALKING TO YOU IDIOT.I was talking to the thread maker, geezes. And if you were a real video card guru, you would agree that the 5200 sucks, and the only real good part of it is the DX 9.0 part.. I think it's in there.Anyways, don't be an Nvidia fanboi, I'm NOT an ATI fanboi, I'm just saying, you can't really do anything except overclock that would gain you performance without loosing visual eyecandy.Whatever, I know video cardz and cpuz and ram and the shiznit.-Ciao.
