July 10, 200322 yr Fine.Don't listen to me.I don't care, I'm not the one who bought the 5200 Ultra. The only way you can get MORE performance out of anything, is to overclock it, and that voids warranty.Well maybe you could decrees the lod (I think it's decrees, dunno, I don't mess around with drivers) and mess with other options, but to gain some performance you would really notice, overclock it.If you mess up your card, don't come crying to me either, it voids warranty.. So beware.
July 10, 200322 yr No I don't have a personal grudge against you. I have a grudge against a large majority of your replies which offer either bad or wrong advice. Not to mention a tendancy towards immaturity. I have had my rear chewed out when I offered wrong or bad info from others why shouldn't you. It's how we keep the info here helpful. My advice would be to refrain from calling me or anyone else for that matter an idiot. Besides being rude it shows a real lack of class and maturity.I never said I was a real Video card guru. Your the one posting to see if anyone wants you to do a hardware FAQ. Maybe it's about time you realize why you've recieved no replies.....I'm by far an Nvidia FanBOI??? Don't tell me an Avril fan right? :-roll" Whatever, I know video cardz and cpuz and ram and the shiznit" Yeah huh.....Now learn how to spell.....Time to go..Proved my point.Bobby
July 10, 200322 yr No one replied, because this forum only has about 10 members who really comes to it."Whatever, I know video cardz and cpuz and ram and the shiznit 'Yeah huh.....Now learn how to spell....."Oh, yeah, okay Mom.
July 11, 200322 yr Zig, I appreciate your input here, as well as other's, as I take a little time to try to get up to date on the latest in video card technology. I don't know what it is about the hardware guru mentality, but there definitely seems to be a tendency among some of these guys to slip into a noxious, condescending mode as they argue that they in fact know best when it comes to all things relating to computers. That's what I see here, and even if some guy does know five times more than you, it still makes me sick when I see him doing his best to belittle you--and even stop you from posting for heaven's sake--while arguing that his knowledge is preeminent. Besides, there's plenty of room for opinion and preference when it comes to hardware, as opposed to purely who's right, as the many threads I've read over the past couple of years on the Intel vs. AMD issue have proved. And there's another point: While the issues can be involved, time is also limited. Sometimes I like the brief, get-to-the-point feedback on a product. For example, I can read a carefully weighed, multi-part official review of a particular product that ends up giving it a high score, only to find out that it's clearly by any reasonable measure no where near as good as the review concluded...and then realize that I should have paid more attention to the people who concluded in the forums that "it's garbage," or something along those lines. The point is, I welcome all kinds of feedback, even the curt one-or-two-line variety, and it gets very irritating when someone comes along and basically says, "I know better, now go away...."I've learned something from this thread that I didn't know before I opened it: Apparently the 9500 Pro is a good video card. If I want to find out more I can go and look for more reviews and opinions, but in the meantime, thanks!
July 11, 200322 yr Paul,From what I read it would seem that although not directly mentioned by name it would seem that I am highly inferred in your post.(Either that or The paranoia issue is popping up again :)).Question for you. Would you like to spend $100+ dollars on a piece of hardware, not have it perform to your expectations and than when you go looking for help have someone tell you the best answer they have is...."It's a piece of CRA*"? Probably wouldn't make you feel too good now would it. Now suppose that same person than tells you that there is no help for you when in reality there actually is. Has his brief info that you like sometimes been helpful?.I never said he couldn't post. Put him down? Yeah maybe if you want to look at it that way. But I can tell you that I have had my fair share of reamings when I have been wrong (Right Paul01 ;)). Didn't cry and didn't start calling people idiots either.Hardware makes or breaks a good experience in FS. The point of this thread and all the others is to provide useful info. Helpful suggestions to either improve the experience that is FS or at least help solve issues.Unless I am wrong his opinion on the card is based on what he's read. Mine is based on building more than 100 machines over the last 2 1/2 years. That and installing 4 of the 5200's for people who are on a limited upgrade budget.I'm glad you learned that the 9500 is a good card. Actually, dollar for dollar it's a great card. Perhaps the best performing video card on the market for under $200.See...No noxious condescending manner here. No reason for it.Have a good day.Bobby
July 11, 200322 yr OK.Geezes.All I was saying.. YOU KNOW what I said. It's my view, and my real view on how to make a game run "smoother" is bascily to overclock.
July 11, 200322 yr Well, this thread has wandered far and wide from the origional questions. "I just installed this card along with the newest driver 44.03. I have seen many negative posts about the card, but its the one I have. Does anyone have any suggested software settings both for this card and for FS2k2Pro to get improved frame rates. I have seen an improvement in the clarity of the textures, but I have not noticed an increase in frame rate."You Bobby, however, have made an attempt to remain true to the intent of the question. I do not want to go spend more money after I just spent for this one. I will try looking in the tips forum. I have also found one help file, bgttv1.zip, which I will read. What do you mean by "drop a pm". What is that and how can I send one to you if I get in trouble? Thanks again.Gary - a video card un-guru
