Upgrade and XP pro??

Featured Replies

Hello all, I plan to upgrade my mobo and cpu to a 3.06 p4 from an amd 2600.I will be reformating and reinstalling XP pro. I've read the registration will give a phone number to get reaurthorised if enough of the system has change. All else will stay the same. Any one have an expearience with this???? Would this be enough of a change to cause this??? I do have a legit XP pro. Just wondering what to expect when I go through the pain. Thanks in advance.

Gregg - Yes, with that change you'll probably have to reactivate XP. If it's been more than 120 days since the original activation you should be able to do it online with no 'phone call required. Less than 120 days and you'll need to 'phone MS. See the full details of XP activation here http://www.aumha.org/win5/a/wpa.htm .Doug
