Need Serious Help - ATI 9700 Pro (pic)

Featured Replies

Can someone tell me what is happening here? Any ideas would be most appreciated. This started to happen this week. First, only when I was in Full Screen mode - now it happens after I have been in Full Screen mode.http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/22730.jpg

Hi.You need to post your Monitor type, MB system etc., for better help. It could be that you exceeded your Refresh rate of your Monitor and or you over clocked too far. If you used Riva, NVmax etc try to Restore settings to Default. Make sure your BIOS is set up correctly and you have IRQ enabled etc. If none of the above, reseat your AGP / Video, if not you may have a RAM /Video board failure. Good luck. TV

If your using a VIA chipset on your motherboard, boot into safe mode and reinstall the VIA Hyperion drivers (4 in 1 drivers). You can get them from viaarena.comChris

HiI had a similar problem with a GF4 card. Part of the actual card was faulty and caused serious problems when playing FS and using other programmes too. The screen would just freeze, and coloured boxes appeared over the screen.I sent it back and got a replacement, and they told me that a whole batch of them made were faultyTim

THanks, everyone. I have never overclocked the card or changed any settings for that matter on my system in the last few weeks. It started to happen all on it's own. I have a feeling it is the card itself. How do I send in an RMA?

Hi Kyle, you can fill out an online request here https://apps.ati.com/rma/rma.htmlI'd recommend using the method where they charge a deposit to your credit card. The advantage is that you get the new card very quickly, and also a neat little box in which to send the original card back. The deposit is returned instantly - the charge will stay on your credit card for only a week at the most.Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg

Thanks, Gosta. What sort of fee is there as you speak of?

Hi Kyle, the deposit is basically the value of the card - I think it was $400 CDN, when I did it. They've got the prices listed on the site. But it was credited back very quickly, i.e. the day after they received my faulty card, the money was back. It's just a way for them to ensure you're not trying to get a free card :). If you don't want to charge anything to your credit card, there is the other option, whereby you send them the faulty card, and once ATI have received it, they'll send you a replacement. It will take a bit longer, but still it shouldn't be too bad.The third option is to go back to the vendor where you bought it. However, I would only advise that if you bought it from a small, independent shop - big chains like Future Shop have extremenly bad customer service, and will probably make you fill in 5000 forms, then leave you waiting for a month before giving you a wrong card as a replacement... And if you bought it online, it will be faster to go directly through ATI.Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg

Thank you for your assistance. I will probably just send my card back and plugin my old Ti500 until they send out a new one. Thanks, again.
