July 29, 200322 yr I was wondering which of these two cards might offer better overall performance for simulations like FS2002 and ACOF as well as Train Sim and LOMAC which are either available at this time or will be released until the end of the year. I'm still checking various offers, because the "bang for the buck" factor is important to me, but before I actually make a purchase I would like to gather some feedback from other Radeon users. You can find the rest of my system specs in my signature :-) . As you can see, my current GF3 Ti 200 is likely to become more and more of a bottleneck over the next several months, and in order to get my system up to dealing with sims like LOMAC and Train Sim 2 I should like to replace this card with a Radeon. Thanks for any advice you might be able to give me! :D
July 29, 200322 yr Spend the extra $50 and get the 9700 Pro. Best bang for the buck right now. Should find em' for around $250.00.
July 29, 200322 yr Get your hands on a 9500Pro while you still can. Last check at about $190. Than head on over to WWW.Rage3D.com and search for the Softmod for the 9500Pro which for all intents and purposes turns it into a 9700. When warmed up w a small overclock the 9500 will produce framerates dead even w a stock clocked 9700.Good LuckBobby
July 29, 200322 yr Bobby,I checked the site you gave me the link to, but did not find any item bearing the title "softmod". Do you mean one of those tweakers they have listed for download?Cheers,
July 31, 200322 yr Bobby - Unfortunately, the softmod won't work on a 9500 Pro. It has to be a 128MB non-pro built on the 9700 PCB. (That's the "L"-shaped memory placement). The best bet in a 128MB 9500np is probably the Sapphire but, even then, there is only about a 60% chance that the mod will give a useable card. The mod almost always works on those cards but there is a 30-40% chance that they will artifact so badly that they'll not be useable with all eight pipes open. But, if you're one of the lucky 60% it's a great deal.Doug Intel 10700K @ 5.1Ghz, Asus Hero Maximus motherboard, Noctua NH-U12A cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200 MHz RAM, RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, 100TB of disk storage.
