GeForce4 4200 Go - Black boxes

Featured Replies

I am getting black boxes around text, lights, and autogen scenery on my laptop. Ive tried it with my default drivers (42.80) and the latest (45.20). It only occurs when i have bilinear or trilinear filtering on. When i take off the filtering, the ground texttures are unbearably ugly. Anyone know how to fix this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Chris,This happened when I set AF to 8X using Rivatuner on my TI4200 card. Bringing Aniso Filtering back down to 2X fixed it for me.Hope it works.Mauricio

4x also works, just don't have your AF on 8x :)

I updated my drivers on a Dell vanilla GeForce2 card w/drivers dated May 2001 and it fixed the same problem for me.The interesting thing was my FS2002 didn't have the problem, but FS2004 did. Good luck and let us know.

Guys this is whats happening to me please advise if you think its same problem:I have been using an older GF3 Ti-200 64MB video card along with myold AMD 1.3 Ghz CPU to run FS2002 and FS2004 without problems.I have been using Nvidia reference drivers 44.67 without a problem.Today I purchased the first of a couple of upgrades to get my PC readyto really run FS9. One of those was a new gainward GeForce 4 Ti-4800128MB card. Installed fine, current drivers work fine for FS2002and other general applications.HOWEVER....trying to run FS9 in anything but windowed mode willcause the screen to turn black in the GUI. If I launch in windowed mode, all is well. If I try to change to Full screen mode within the sim, it will cause a HARD crash to reboot. Any ideas as to what causes this? If this is a driver issue, would love to know it or how to solve.I run my PC at 1152x864 mode..and run FS2002 and FS2004 in samemode. Thanks for any feedback. As this is a big issue for me, a response by email and here would be highly appreciated. Ericejoiner2ATbellsouth.net

Yeah, I've this problem too using v43.51 Dets. Found that by selecting "None" for AA in Rivatuner (but leave 'enable antialiasing' checked), 2K4 is OK. I can still enable AA from within 2K4 and seem to suffer no FPS hit.Not ideal - but OK 'til a better Det driver comes along.Cheers,Paulhttp://www.strontiumdog.plus.com/sbird.jpgOfficially licenced by British Airways plc for use of name and logo[p]AMD XP2800+ Barton, Gigabyte GA-7NNXP nForce2, 1Gig Crucial PC3200 DDR 400MHz, Gainward 128 MB GF4-4200, SB Audigy, 3 x WD Caviar SE[/p]
