August 12, 200322 yr Hello, Can you run more than 512mb of ram in windows 98se and if so does it use it properly? Thanks,Todd
August 12, 200322 yr Windows 98 cannot have more the 256MB ram or it will hang after you play a game, you can edit the system regestry to allow it to use more ram but I am not sure how, maybe someone else will be able to help.
August 12, 200322 yr >Windows 98 cannot have more the 256MB ram or it will hang Absolutely not true...I've run 98 SE with 512Mb with no problems. [a href=http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;253912]This MS knowledge base article[/a] describes the vcache problem for ram greater than 512Mb.There's a link in there to an article that describes exactly how to modify the system.ini file. No registry editing is needed.Dan
August 12, 200322 yr Todd - Yes, you can run more than 512MB but you have to make a simple system.ini file update.
