August 16, 200322 yr I would like to install the newer Intel 845 chipset drivers. I understand that I un-install the current drivers under add/remove programs. What else do I need to do before istalling new drivers? Is it like video drivers where there are remnants left from older drivers that must be removed before re-installing?Thanks, and advice is most appreciated.Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.
August 16, 200322 yr Bruce,Do you have an entry in the Windows Add/Remove Programs menu item for the MOBO chipset drivers? I don't think there is one but I don't have those MOBO chips.Intel should have a readme on their website for installation/deinstallation or in the download of the drivers.W. Sieffert Bill Sieffert
August 16, 200322 yr Author Hi,Yes, I do have an entry in add/remove programs for the Intel application accelerator. And that's what's on the readme as well (the Intel recommended method). I just wondered if there's more to it for we perfectionists :).Thanks- how's the flying going? The plane I was supposed to fky today (172SP) had an engine failure yesterday, and coupled with the fact that local flying shop didn't have a supply of new sectionals (my current ones expired on 8/8), I thought there was a message there that I should stay on the ground today :).Bruce. August 17, 200322 yr I cancelled last Thursday due to weather, the tropical wave was coming thru. I guess it finally turned into Tropical Storm Erika.I solo'ed on August 6th. Next up is ShortSoft Field LandingsTOs.The day after I solo'ed another Student Pilot was attempting his solo, went off the runway, and removed the landing gear amongst other things from one of the C-172s. The Student Pilot was okay but I am sure mentally chewed up.W. Sieffert Bill Sieffert
August 17, 200322 yr Author I'm glad to hear that you soloed. The performance t/o's and landings are great to learn and do, as you're operating the a/c close to it's envelope and at altitudes very close to the ground. It's great when you finally get all the variables to work together and are able to fly them consistently OK.I really feel for a student pilot that has something like this occur. I saw one a year ago that somehow must have put one of the brakes on (on take-off ??), and turned sideways so quickly that the a/c toppled over, bent one wing up and had front end damage (172). He got out OK, but was very shook up. I was on final at the time, and had to do the big go-around. This was in a no-wind situation, so I'm not sure what happened, but could have been a tire blow-out too. This was his first solo take-off.Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.
