I'm using a USB Gravis Eliminator Precision Pro joystick. I have no idea if the cable is shielded. I know the USB plug to MOBO cable is just standard flat cable. I agree, could be EMI. I don't have any good test equipment anymore since I retired, so can't put a scope on it to see.
