Shutdown Problems when on the internet. , Please help if you can.

Featured Replies

For some time, when I am browsing on the internet, I have had the problem defined below. I really did not notice it at any other time with the exception of when I was browsing so just decided to let her restart (shutdown and restart by itself) and log on again to continue on the internet --- until now.For the past couple of days, I have been trying to download KORD from SimFlyers. The problem has repeatedly occured during the download as well. The error message is as follows:"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer."I then get one of two messages as follows:"Bugcode_USB_Driver" or "Driver_IRQL_Not_Less_or_Equal"The Driver IRQL is the most common. The message continues:"Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as cashing or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select advanced startup options, and then select safe mode.Technical information:*** STOP: 0x000000FE (0x00000002,0x8649E838,0x864AF2F8,0x86466A40)"I unplugged all USB devices, restarted the computer, and still had the problem. I do not see any BIOS memory options in my CMOS startup which would be applicable. No new hardware or software has been added from the time that this problem was not noticed. With the exception of when I am on line, browsing, or downloading as described above, I do not recall this problem happening at any other time.P43.2ASUS P4C800 Deluxe MB w/Onboard Soundmax SoundASUS ti4600 GraphicsDiamond Stealth III S540 GraphicsTripple monitors1G/400 MemoryWinXP Pro45.33 Detonator DirectX 9.0bAny help sure would be appreciated. Thanks:RTH

The following is my first discovery relative to finding a solution. More time and testing is needed to confirm that I have discovered the problem, but this seems to be an indication of where it exists:Went into msconfig and disabled everything except 3pipe-USRpba so that my modem would still work. I was able to download SimFlyers KORD multiple files with no indication of my non initiated shutdown/restart problem.I narrowed it down until all I had running were outpost and nwiz, and it looks like nwiz is the problem program. Then with only nwiz running, I still had the problem. I really did not enable outpost by itself, or add all the other programs without nwiz yet to confirm this, as it takes several hours to download the complete KORD/KJFKpackage. I will try that at night when I am sleeping.I realize most of the newer drivers are designed around the new generation cards, not my old ti4600, but 45.33 has worked well. My two options seem to be to either go back to earlier drivers, or just disable nwiz any time I want to download large files.Time will tell. Thanks:RTH

You might do a search NWIZ to see how many versions you have on your computer and which one is currently enabled. It could be that you have a fault installation. You would try uninstalling your NVIDIA drivers from the control panel, add/remove menu, reboot your computer than install the drivers of your choice. I believe the Microsoft Update site has the 45.23 as their latest approved drivers.W. Sieffert
