December 29, 200322 yr This is how my graphic has been working for the past several days.I noticed my fan stops spinning at some moments. As a result my PC crashes.Do I need to buy a new card or is it fixable? http://server2.fs2002.com/uploaded/dec03/fsscr002_32.jpg http://server2.fs2002.com/uploaded/dec03/fsscr003_29.jpg
December 29, 200322 yr You might not need a new card YET, but you need a new fan. Contact the vendor and see if they will send you a new fan free. I did this with two graphics cards that the fan went South!W. Sieffert Bill Sieffert
December 29, 200322 yr Which fan stops spinning? (CPU, video card, power supply?)If your system is overheating, the corruption you see is most likely being caused by it. FS2002/FS2004 put a heavy load on both the CPU and Video Card, and as such they generate more heat because of it. If this problem only shows up when in MSFS, I'd wager it's your video card overheating, and causing issues. If it's your Video Card fan failing, which I think it is, get it replaced soon - or replace the whole card. It *may* be a good opportunity/excuse to get a new card. But don't expect many games to be stable so long as the fan is failing :) If it's your CPU fan failing, get it replaced NOW! You don't want any perminant damage to happen to it.If it's your power supply fan, get it replaced asap... it's less of a direct impact problem, but you don't want your power supply overheating and failing, which could always send dangerous electrical problems through your computer.-Greg
December 29, 200322 yr I have seen graphics fans for sale at some computer shops. Unless it's a special one you can probably go this route. Get a tin of that pressurized computer cleaner to blow out any dust caught in the fans and see if that helps. If not check what fan needs to be replaced and replace is asap. Make sure all your case fans are working properly too. They remove heat that can still build up in the case.If you do decide to get a new card. Makesure it has both a good fan and a good heatsink. Better cooling will make it last longer.
December 29, 200322 yr Thanks for the usefull information guys. It was GPU fan, wich is (still) failing. I was about to replace the default fan by one of Zalman's wit the giant heatsinks and additional fan. I don't hope my GPU is fried, but it looks like it. Even when the card is cold and running below default speeds it still looks like the images above. Is this permanent and do I need to contact the tech support and get a new graphic card? Any help would be highl appriciated.
