USB hub help

Featured Replies

Someone please try and help me I've recently added a Belkin USB mini hub to my system and it plug & played OK and I had two devices connected to it. However the other day I noticed that the device lights weren't on, even though the hub is powered. Now when I go to device manager, it either doesn't know the device is attached or states a code 10 problem. sometimes when connected it also states that it is a hi-speed device connected to a low speed port (?) - see belowMy system has 5 USB 2.0 ports, 4 on the back 2 x 2 and another on the front which is part of a memory card reader. Under USB controllers there are 4x USB root hub listings. When I look at there properties, each has a listing of the devices in it. e.g. one has my bluetooth transceiver and printer, another has my printer and a docking/sync station. Another has the mass storage device (i.e. the card reader) and if I leave the usb port free on that it says 1 port available (as expected). However the last listing states 6 ports free - what are these. If I connect the hub via the card reader port, it isn't listed in that particular list, but under the one with 6 ports (now down to 5) - YOU FOLLOWING SO FAR :-lolI've tried uninstalling the hub, and re-installing, but no joy, it gives the error messagesCan anyone shed any light if you can understand the above lol

Hmmm,I've got the same Belkin USB hub. You are getting the red power light but not the green lights where the individual USB connectors are? That sounds like maybe a problem with the hub itself,it should be easily detected by plug&play. You said you uninstalled and reinstalled. Did you unplug the power block for awhile and then plug it back. Sometimes a line spike or other things can cause problems and the device just needs to be "reset" as it were.David
