Evenin' Terry (mid-afternoon for you :-) ),Trying new drivers is a piece of cake. Assuming you're running XP or Me you have a System Restore option which puts things back as they were if you don't like a change such as this. The Omega drivers are designed for image quality not performance but the frame rates still seem pretty good. I assume the control panel is identical for both sets of drivers. Omega man doesn't go in for different display controls as such.I don't play loud music either but the Audigy is a good card and takes some of the load of the CPU (just like the graphics card does bit less so of course).Enjoy your flights!Cheers,

Ray (Cheshire, England).

Good afternoon Terry!Just gone midnight here and I should be in bed like all decent people! :-waveI'm giving my new system a bit of a hammering tonight. I downloaded a real-world flight plan for a British Airways 747 from KMIA to EGLL and I'm flying it in the 767PIC minus the panel as I use Project Magenta.I like to keep things realistic so it's real-time all the way! Radar Contact is guiding me and I'll land around 8am.I think you'll like the Omega's but if you don't then the roll-back is familiar to you. Hope they give you an improvement.Cheers,

And a good morning to you too Ray, It is now 2100/0400 (local/Zulu) here in ABQ. I tried those Omega drivers and they were ten times worse than what I have been using. I most likely did not have them set right but they are now removed and back to the old ATI 4.2s. The Omegas had lots of stuttttering and pauses. I did a complete removal of the ATI drivers prior and did the default or standard install of the Omega drivers. I guess if it is not broke, do not mess with it. I too liked to fly the PIC767 program because of the switchology you do not have in the default aircraft. I sure hope the updated version comes out sometime this year so I can continue to use the FS2004.Well better feed the cats and get some sleep.Terry

Hi Terry,Sorry to hear the Omega's weren't to your liking. The problems were probably due to the settings but as you say if it isn't broke....One thing about stuttering. I've found that if I have a sreensaver anabled that does increase the number of stutters. This is probably down to the DLL checking ever so often if there's been any activity. Try disabling screensavers and any power saving and see if that lessens the stuttering.I'm now on the ground at Heathrow. One of these days I must get over to ABQ!Cheers,

Hi Ray,Good to hear you are back to Heathrow. I passed through there several times about 9 years ago on a trip to Europe. Even then, the police had sub machine guns and barbed wire around the buildings. Sure wish we did not have so many weirdoes running around the world trying to hurt people.I do not have any screen savers activated (None setting) and as for power, the computer does not turn off/sleep but the monitor goes to sleep after 15-20 minutes of non-use.Maybe one of these days I will be able to dedicate a computer to flight simming only and not have to compete with browsers, email and the like. When I worked on Air Force simulators twenty years ago, we did not have to worry about other programs competing for computer time. In fact we had to combine multiple mainframe type computers together in order to make the simulator fly. Today, one of our desktops systems could run the entire sim and the visual system even with all of its shimmering and pauses still made ours look like a primitive cartoon.Sim-u-lator, Terry

Hi Terry,Yes, the state of the world leaves much to be desired. When you do upgrade next consider keeping your current PC and network the two. I've done this for the first time and running FS ancilliary programs such as FS Meteo, Radar Contact and Project Magenta of course on the non-flying PC frees up the flying machine and frame rates are excellent. My flying machine does have internet access (via the secondary one) but I keep installed software to an absolute minimum. If only we have the programmers of yesteryear with the hardware of today.Cheers,

Ray, After reading back through the four pages of this thread, did Alexander Martin (the original questioner) say what type of monitor he was using? All he said was his resolution of 1152 x something which leads me to think he might have a "Flat Panel LCD", especially with that weird number. If he does have an LCD, then running any resolution other than the "Native" resolution (best for that LCD) would likely give him fuzzy images. Terry

Hi Terry,A good point and no, he didn't say what screen type he had. I asked him on more than one occasion to supply more info but it was never forthcoming. Descibing his resolution as "1152 x sumthing" is not very informative. 1152*864 is a valid resolution but for CRTs only. TFTs are 1024*768 for 15" and for anything larger, 1280*1024 so if he is still reading this epic try changing the resolution to the "native resolution" and things should improve. If Alexander or anyone else who has a TFT and doesn't know what "native resolution" means look it up in the handbook!Cheers,

Ray (Cheshire, England).
