March 13, 200422 yr Hi,Does anyone know whether there could be or will be any need to re-install Windows XP after upgrading to a faster CPU ?At least older operating systems used to have hard coded timing loops which they tuned during O/S installation, perhaps even device drivers did that. Not sure whether this is still the case. Then these loops would be too short and may cause trouble.I guess there must be quite a number of people who have done CPU upgrades and can report here on their experiences.Regards,Siggy Siggy Schwarz
March 13, 200422 yr Wouldn't make any difference that I can see. I have upgraded CPUs without reinstalls.. :) Cheers,John TavendaleTextures by Tavers - https://www.facebook.com/texturesbytavers

March 15, 200422 yr Shouldn't be necessary if you're upgrading within the same "family" of CPUs.I have read in several places that if upgrading from an older AMD Athlon to an Athlon XP, a reinstall of Windows XP may be beneficial, although not required.Dan

Be sure, your Explorer-Options dont hide the System-Files (not default !).For Win2K you find the Orginal-Files in the Servicepack 4For winXP you
