Ghost Computer starts up by itself!

Featured Replies

After shutting down my computer, at some unknown time it restarts by itself. Unfortunately, I really don't know when this action originated as in the past, I have usually left it running continually 7/24. I have discovered that at some unknown time, it restarts by itself if I shut it down. Occasionally, when I try to do a cold shutdown, she restarts then as well as though I had clicked restart rather than shutdown. A repeat try at a shutdown is then successful, however when I get up the next morning the computer is running again.Anyone else ever have this happen or have any ideas?Thanks:RTHP4C800 Deluxe MotherboardOnboard SoundMax Sound to Creative Inspire 5.1 5200 SpeakersPentium 4, 3.2G CPU1G PC3200/400 MemoryWinXP ProDirectX9.0bATI Radeon 9800Pro 128MBSecondary Graphics Diamond Stealth III S540 PCI 21

Read your MOBO manual, BIOS section, look in the area of IRQ/Event Activity Detect, RTC Alarm Resume, Primary INTR.Lot at your Network Interface Card (NIC) or On-board NIC for settings that will cause the computer to start on signals from the internet. Disable them if found.W. Sieffert
