July 17, 200421 yr Can anyone offer any help with this problem: Approximately 30 seconds after inserting a DVD my comp crashes and then reboots (Windows XP). During those few seconds the normal sound from the DVD disc is accompanied by an unwanted sound which I can only describe as someone rapidly transmitting Morse code at a loud volume! After reboot the "System Recovered From a Serious Error" msg appears followed by:ERROR SIGNATURE:BCCODE: 1000008e BCP1: C0000005 BCP2: BFAB54AE BCP3: BA3108C4BCP4: 00000000 OSVer: 5_1_2600 /SP: 0_0 Product 768_1ERROR REPORT:C:WINNTMinidumpMini71704-05.dmpC:Document~1George~1Locals~1TempWER1.tmp.dir00Sysdata.xmlI went through a series of error correction steps in the system 'Help' (sound card, etc) but could not find any obvious conflicts. I also have not installed any new hardware recently so I cannot associate the problem to that possibility. I have installed some Flightsim addon's but the problem existed prior to that.Would appreciate any assistance...-GeorgeM at 5B6
July 19, 200421 yr Hi George. Some questions:Which DVD player (WinDVD, PowerDVD, NVDVD...)and version?System specs (processor, chipset, sound card, vga card, ram installed...)?Regards.
July 19, 200421 yr Author Thanks for responding; I solved the problem just prior to coming on the Forum here (to cancel out my request for help).I've had a P3 with WinXP,plenty of RAM, etc. for a couple of years and was able to play a DVD with no problem until recently. I still don't know what event(s) caused the problem but I did some trouble shooting and searching and finally discoverd that I need a DVD DECODER to use with Windows MultiMedia Player. I just purchased one ($14.95) via download from Cyberlink and that resolved the issue! Thanks again for offering your help.-GeorgeM at 5B6
