July 31, 200421 yr Hi everyone, just a quick question on video cards since Im planning on upgrading my rig soon. Just curious on which video card would most people choose if going with the Geforce 6800 Ulta or the Radeaon X800 XT.Thanks,Bill Asus Tuf Gaming Plus B550 - Ryzen 7 5800X3D - Asus GeForce 4080 RTX OC Edition - 64GB DDR4 (3600Mhz) - EVGA 850W Power Supply - 2X 1 TB NVME PCIE gen 4 - Windows 11 (25H2)
July 31, 200421 yr There has been a lot of heated argument about which is better. The Geforce 6800 and Radeon X800 are virtually identical. If you like to play games like Far Cry and perhaps Doom3 when it comes out, the 6800 is the better choice. That is because the 6800 has SM3.0 support. That's an advanced shadding technique that's more realistic than it's previous versions. The X800 only supports SM2.0 along with the later Radeon 9000 series and the Geforce FX series. The prices are almost exactly identical too so I'd suggest going for the 6800 Ultra because of that little extra. More bang for the buck. If you do go for the 6800, I'd recomend the 6800GT instead of the Ultra. The GT is basically a slightly clocked down version of the Ultra but its just as good. It's also $100 cheaper.
