August 6, 200421 yr Hello I just bought a AMD Athlon 64 3400+ Processor and I am having lock ups in fs2004 .The motherboard that I bought seems to be the issue with onboard sound even though I have disabled it.AT the motherboard tech support they are saying its because maybe the software will not support 64 bit systems. AMD states in their ad for the processor that "The AMD Athlon 64 processor runs on AMD64, a revolutionary technology that allows the processor to run 32-bit applications at full speed while enabling a new generation of powerful 64-bit software " so who is telling the truth here....?
August 6, 200421 yr AMD is correct. The Athlon64 is backwards compatable. That means it will run 32 and 64-bit programs. There are only three 64-bit programs that are currently out on the market that I know of. Thoes being Doom 3, Far Cry (with special Patch) and Windows XP 64 beta. If your other programs are running fine, then it's not compatability that's the problem.

FS9 will bring out the best in lockups because it really works the CPU raising the temps. There can be many things causing it--but the 3400 will run an 32 bit app like FS9.David
