August 17, 200421 yr I'm upgrading to a new Motherboard and CPU. I want to go to the AMD64 line. Anyone have good experience with the AMD 64's. I'm looking for the best combination of AMD64 CPU (3200+,3400+,etc)and Motherboard with the best performance and cooling. I want to run MegaScenery smoothly without spending $750 for the AMD64_64fx53If I only knew the best performance/price setup todate to run MegaScenery etc.....Thanks,Walt
August 17, 200421 yr I would recommend going for the 3500+ or 3800+, mostly because they are S939 and will allow for future upgradability without having to buy a new MOBO, as for the MOBO, with S939 the ASUS is your only option I think.
August 17, 200421 yr Asus, Abit and MSI all make such 939-socket motherboards.Michael J.http://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/rxp-higher.jpg Michael J.
August 25, 200421 yr if sticking with AMD I would recommend waiting for PCI express motherboards to come out. Only intel offers that right now. soon!
August 25, 200421 yr Check my sig... runs fine..as for PCIe.. not everything new is always super..not saying its not.. but right now...people are still buying 9800Pro reg AGP's..im just thinking moneywise its gonna be a long while before PCIe is fully incorporated..and yes mega scenery runs super smooth.. on my rig...as for the 3200 to 3400.. if you want a 3400.. its a waste of money. as it only has a slight adv. over the 3200 you can safely up the 3200 a bit to have it perform exact the same..Again if you want the newest of new.. negl. this post but whats out on the market now.. will still take you a long way into the futureAMD64 3200 - ASUS K8V SE - ASUS RADEON 9800XT - SB AUDIGY 2 - 1.5GB CORSAIR XMS - RUNNING XP PRO ON A 320GB BUNCH OF SATA DRIVES
September 8, 200421 yr Thanks very much.I think you are right on line.Makes a lot of sense to me!Thanks,Walt

I'm only geting frame rates of 4-5fps at airports and 10-12 while flying. Can anyone familiar with this setup tell me what setting are needed in the Bios, Memery, or configuration to get it to run properly.I'm told it should be getting twice the fps'sI've tried everything. What about duel channel? is that's what needed with the AMD64 to get the better performance. If so is the ASUS K8V SE motherboard the wrong board to take advantage of dual channel??System Spec'sASUS K8V SE DELUXE K8T800Windows XPAMD64 32001024 DDR-3200 DDR400 (2-512's)CORSAIR100GB IBM IDE HDDNVedia 5900XL AGPSB AUDIGYAny help would be appriciated.signed: frustated, Am I missing some setup required to open up the speed gates??Thanks,Walt
September 25, 200421 yr Are the chipset drivers for your new board properly installed? Is your hard drive from your previous system? If so, did you reformat it? You really should reformat when going from one design of motherboard to another.Hope this helps,Greg
