Needing a new joystick - looking for your views !

Featured Replies

Hi folks,Having recently upgraded my system, I ran into trouble with conflicts between the MBoard and the sound card so I took the sound card out and am running with the MBoard built in sound. (No problems - it's pretty good)All in all, no problem but now I con't plug in my trusty MS Sidewinder FFB (the first version) to fly with :-( (It has the old 15pin D connector).I'm reluctant to buy another soundcard because I'm really only after plugging my joystick in and getting more conflicts would break my heart (let alone my wallet !). So, this strikes me as the opportunity to upgrade the joystick (actually it provides me with an exceelent excuse to get a new joystick passed the BOSS - she can't see the new hard disk I've hidden in the case !!)So, the question is - your opinions please ! (In case you know of any logistics problems, I'm UK based and am not looking to re-mortage the house to be able to resume my virtual flying career)Worth going for FFB or stick to normal ?Thanks for your views - all taken in the manner they are meant.Regards,Rob

Well I like a joystick because it allows to fly, and then I play lots of driving and games and it allows for easy use of both. I would only buy Saitek, yes they do cost a bit more then your average joystick, I have a Cyborg 3D Force Digital Joystick, it cost me 80USD, but was well worth it, I did have a previous Saitek which I used for about 3 years, and it still worked fine, I just wanted a newer one and force feedback, I don't think you can go wrong with Saitek at all. This is the one I have, I went to the UK site for youhttp://www.dxmarket.com/saitek/products/J45.htmlI also have heard many good things about the X45http://www.dxmarket.com/saitek/products/J24C.html

>then your average joystick, I have a Cyborg 3D Force Digital>Joystick, Saitek Cyborg 3D USB - the best joystick I ever had. Go with Saitek either for FF or no FF.Michael J.WinXP-Home,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8, Radeon X800 Pro,WD 36GB Raptor,1 GB PC3200 http://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/rxp-higher.jpg
