XP Service Pack 2 Question?

Featured Replies

I am presently running the Zone Alarm firewall (Freeware version) and AVG Antivirus. If I install SP2, can all three of these programs run at the same time, or do I need to disable something in SP2 after installation in order to retain ZA and AVG? My assumption is that there are other SP2 features that it would be advantageous to have in addition to just the security features.Any advice? Thanks:RTH

Hello,I run XP Pro SP2 with ZA free (last version) , SP2 did find ZA without any problem and all is OK.I use Norton Anti virus so I cannot comment on AVGHope it helps

SP2 by default has the windows firewall automatically turned on, which I find is a pain in the rear. You can shut off these following services (as I did) within the Control Panel/Administrative Tools/ Services Options.Application Gateway: DisabledAutomatic Updates: Disabled Security Center (Pain in the A$$): DisabledWindows Firewall: DisabledYou can stop them first (if running) then right click their properties and disable them in the Startup type drop down box.
