November 4, 200421 yr Hi.A couple of things you can try, since we don't know what your setup looks like, what has been added etc. Install the patch. Rename your "fs9.cfg" to something like "fs9.cfg.org". Find it here: C:Documents and SettingsYOURUSERNAME.SYSApplication DataMicrosoftFS9.I have the same board and I use ver. 4.3 for video, make sure it's for XP, the old drivers that came with the card, at least in my case were for W98SE. One test would be to run 3Dmark2001, if it goes through all the way you should be OK as far as Video. If you added anything to your sim / system go back one step. TV
November 5, 200421 yr The "resetting" you describe is quite often heat related. Have you cleaned out your compuyer case lately? An air compressor works best, but failing that you can use canned air to rid the case of built-up dust, pet hair, etc. Be sure to clean the dust from between the CPU cooler fins too.Hope this helps,Greg
November 5, 200421 yr You indicate the flight simulator works fine on WinME, but has trouble with Win2K/XP. Is this the same computer? Do you have a dual boot/triple boot (WinME/2K/XP) on the same computer? If so and it works ok with WinME, then heat generated problems may not be the problem. If you installed Win2K/XP on this computer, you also need to install the proper motherboard controller chip drivers, i.e., Intel, VIA, SiS, AMD, ALi, NForce. Win2K/XP default motherboard controller chip drivers are not sufficient for gaming purposes. If you are talking about two separate computers, then heat related and/or motherboard controller chip drivers could both be the problem. You could try running the directx diagnostic, press Start, Run..., type dxdiag, OK. Let the diagnostic stabilize, ensure you are using Directx9.0b or 9.0c (preferred). Select the Display tab, ensure directdraw, direct3d, and AGP accelerations are enabled. If any are grayed-out install updated motherboard controller chip drivers. Run the directdraw and direct3d tests and not any errors. Note: These tests will probably run with the Windows default motherboard drivers which may give a false impression that everything is ok. W. Sieffert Bill Sieffert
