January 25, 200521 yr Hey guys,I'm running an AthlonXP 2400, 512 mb PC2100, Abit NF7 (nForce 2 chipset). I'm thinking about upgrading to 1 gig dual channel PC3200 (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-218-062&depa=1). I'd like to know if the 400 MHz PC3200 memory is compatible with my old AthlonXP 2400 running at 266 MHz FSB? I don't know if those numbers need to be equal. Also, what kind of performance boost can I expect in FS2004? Thanks.Carl
January 25, 200521 yr Yep. I have 1gb PC2700 (333mhz) DDR in my mobo which is only supposed to take a max of 266mhz DDR. No problems. As for preformance, you should see a small boost. 1gb is excellent if you run FSUIPC background programs like FSMetar.
January 31, 200521 yr Putting faster RAM will not speed up your system if your FSB is only, 266Mhz. While it will be compatible, Your system will access it at the FSB speed of your system in this case 266Mhz. You will see a performance increase, but that would be more of a product of the increase amount of RAM Vs The type of RAM. Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
