Do you use OrBX scenery, such as FTX? If so make sure the Orbx libraries are the first entries in your scenery DB.

One thing to check is your affinity mask make sure it excludes Core 0. You can calculate what it should be using this tool. Just give it the number of cores, whether or not you are using Hypertheading, and what cores you want to use and it will calculate the number to enter in the FSX.CFG file. http://www.gatwick-fsg.org.uk/affinitymask.aspx?SubMenuItem=hardware

To be fair, PMDG has a sizable staff in place, While I don't know what size staff FSL has, I can't imagine it's that big as they only have one other released product. With the anticipated demand of this one, which could be equal to a PMDG release, they may not have the resources to handle all the potential support issues at once, so by doing it this way, they can get a fair amount taken care of, before they open the flood gates.

Hi, I have a performance challenged system (a 3Ghz E6850 C2D system) which I have to make some compromises to run complex addons, One of them is turning off the High Def 3D cockpit option in the Aircraft menu. This gives me about 6-10 extra frames, so I can fly with fluid frame rates (For me) even when running with traffic, and I don't really see too much lose in graphic quality. This allows me to fly aircraft like PMDG, the Q400, CS etc... The only aircraft model this does not work on is the Aerosoft A3xx series, it corrupts the ND display. (Makes the image double in size). So I would really appreciate it if someone who has the FSL A320X could test this for me and assuming it works, post a screenshot from the Captain's chair in the VC, to see if there is any appreciable loss in quality? The best performing video capture software for both performance and file size was GameCam. Unfortunately it is no longer available and the registration system was removed. The one I use now which is close is Bandicam. The frame hit is a little more then GameCam, but still not as bad as FRAPS and the file size footprint is about the same. I can record a 2 hour video with about 1.8GB disk space. I'd need a bigger hard drive to do that with FRAPS.

While I agree with what you say, it was explained, they had to do it this way to get the collimated HGS system to work properly. Like everything in the sim, there are times compromises have to be made, and if fixing the POV meant losing the collimated HGS, I think this is a compromise I could live with. but we're getting way off topic now, this thread should be all about the FSL A320. What I see so far looks very good for hardcore simmers, that want every button and knob to be functional.

He's wrong about the 300ER, as that is a separate purchase expansion package. PMDG though do give you 2 variants of the 777 the 200LR and the 200F, in the base product. Same for the NGX you get the 737-800 and 900. So he is correct PMDG gives you more bang for the buck.

That's normal for FSX, one is for DX9 the other is for DX10.

Got some bad news for you! If you just completed it on Aug13th (and anyone after that) then you are not eligible for the contest. Unless they extended it, which I don't see any indication they did, the deadline for the contest was the day before Aug 12th., according to the posted rules.

Beware using Multisampling for transparency AA has been known to cause pauses/stutters just before landing. Supersampling prevents that. According to Phil Taylor (Aces) it is caused by the perimeter fences surrounding many airports.

The longest commercial flight I can see currently is EKCH to KBOS note Statute miles (SM) are not the same as Nautical miles. For this planned flight the distance would convert to about 3400+NM. You have to at least program the PERF page (Weight CG)so the computers know the planes configuration, then you can control the Autopilot via MCE, Heading for lateral control, V-Speed or FLCH for Vertical. and Speed mode with the A/T. Tom Cain

Yes MCE works very well with PMDG models. You won't be disappointed.

That was a problem with earlier versions, I haven't had an issue like that since after the 1.9 update.All pushbacks are true with no weird turns as in earlier versions of the program. If you are still having an issue with that, I would try an uninstall and reinstall of GSX (Not just the addonmanager). That corrected some other issues I had. The automatic updates, don't always seem to put the program in the same state that a reinstall does.

Generally you are better off with the stand alone version, it is compatible (Although I can't get it to work on my system, but I have a rather old setup still on Win Vista 32 bit. So I'm sure that is my main issue) You can try the 7 day trial first, to ensure it will work for you, before purchase. Updates will generally be available for the stand alone version first, as well as Betas, which I don't even think HiFi makes available through Steam. So you'll have to wait for the full release of an update, which Steam will probably be the last to get.

A bit simplistic, yes each app is limited to 4GB virtual address space (VAS) (upto 3GB for APP, 1GB system in a 32bit OS) the system does use all the memory installed on the system for memory management (paging). same as is done with the HD page file for virtual memory. Remember address space is different then actual physical memory space. People tend to treat them the same, they are not.

I've seen reports of poor performance in P3D with systems with hyperthreading on, Try turning it off if it's on in your system.

You don't say what version of FSX you have, if it's FSX-SE though the MD-11 is not supported, and will not install to it. Only the NGX and 777's are supported in FSX-SE. Tom Cain

As for #2 yes EZDOK works fine in FSXSE. The only addon I find that don't work that I miss and it's freeware is FSRecorder. Some say they got an old version working, but so far, it don't work for me.

You don't need a few weeks, just go to the learning center in FSX and there are a flight lessen system,that is as good or better then what DTGFS has now.
