  3. I found FSRecorder 1.331 will not work with a side by side installation, no matter what I did it would not load in FSXSE. I have since converted to a standard install and now it works fine.

  5. One thing you can try is set TextureMaxLoad to 30 in the Display Section of FSX.CFG file. (If you have a strong system, about 15 otherwise - I believe 6 is the default). If you start to see stuttering lower it a little. What this does is to tell FSX to load more tiles at a time. Don't confuse it with Texture_Max_Load which is the resolution of textures FSX loads. (1024, 2048, or 4096))
  6. I agree with this statement as it pertains to the original implementation by MS, Steve's DX10Fixer utility however changes all that. It not only fixes most if not all problems with the original MS implementation, it adds many new features, some previously only implemented in P3D, like VC Shadows in all aircraft. With his new Cloud Shadow addon, FSX capabilities, especially FSX/SE is much closer to P3D's today. There is no reason today developers should write off FSX in DX10 mode when used in conjunction with the DX10 Fixer. Tom Cain

  9. An external option would be one way to go. The problem with moving around to another airport in the same session, is FSX/P3D degradation of VAS each time you load new scenery, and if you wait until you reach your destination, then that breaks up the flow of the flight. It's only a onetime thing though (Per airport you want to customize) , which is why I said it's a nice to have feature not a necessity.
  10. I still don't think you are getting it. We know GSX correctly handles Jetway gates without the bus. The issue is gates that do not have jetways. In Europe these spots are usually a distance away requiring a bus to transport passengers there. Which is the GSX default. In the US though it's more common when a airport doesn't use jetways or don't have enough to handle the aircraft parked there, they still park close to the terminal, where the passengers walk right on the plane from the terminal. No bus needed. A good example of this is KHPN. There are only 2 jetways there. The other airliners still park in walking distance of the terminal so there is no bus. Like I said, like you I don't think a global option is the answer. It would be nice though if there was a way to do the customization without having to load up that airport in FSX/P3D. That's a nice to have though, maybe something to think about for future products.
  11. I think the argument is more with parking spaces/gates that have no jetway. While in Europe it's common for aircraft to be parked on the apron away from the terminal, where a bus would be needed. In the US smaller airports do not all have jetways, but the planes park close to the terminal negating the need for a bus. I actually like FSDT's approach to this, The one thing that would be nice though, is the ability to set customization at both origin and destination airports in the beginning of the flight rather than have to do it for the destination after arrival. This way the flight would be seamless. As you say though you only have to do this once per airport you want to customize.

  13. The previous version of PROATC/X required you to go through it's preflight checklist to activate ATC coverage, even if you were on the proper frequency. With the latest version this seems to be more spotty. Sometimes I have to do the checklist, sometimes, I just need to manually set the comm freq. Try running though the PATC preflight checklist and see if that activates it.
  14. Agree, however in the case of the 757/767 if you have a side by side installation (FSX/FSX-SE) then you'll have to manually move over the entries for the CS dll's in the FSX dll.xml file, to the one for FSX-SE.
  15. The just flight version is not the latest version 4.6, and can not be updated to it. This update makes a world of difference so if you like the CS757, it would be worth the 9.99 to get it.
  16. You have to remember the CS757/767 is designed after the original production model in the 80's, and models the original FMC of the day, which was the first used in commercial airliners. As such you had to manually setup your approach profile, similar to the way the Q400 does. You need to define a end of descent point, which the FMC then can calculate a descent profile from. Newer FMC versions do this automatically, which users of CS 757/767 assume should do too, while in fact the way CS modeled it is prototypical for it's day. The original Flight Factor 757 for X-Plane 10 was also modeled this way.
  17. The only way GSX has to determine if deicing is appropriate is by temperature, which is why it gives you the option, if you don't want to deice just say no. No big deal.

  20. I still think it was a attempted terrorist hijacking (For the plane) "My theory was that it was a terrorist act. I think the original goal was to capture the plane for a future 9/11 style attack. The reason I think this is this crew is known to at least on one occasion let people into the cockpit in flight, that may have happened again. There was a point early on where radar showed the plane making erratic altitude changes, this could have been the point of a struggle to take control of the aircraft. I think then the hijackers would have cut passenger oxygen supply preventing any further resistance, I believe they then flew the plane west probably towards Yemen, which would be right in line with the dismissed sightings over the Maldives, my guess would be to Socotra Airport, which looking on Google Earth appears to be a deserted field with a runway large enough to land a 777 and there doesn't appear to be anything around it for miles. Looks like an easy place they can fly the plane into without being seen, at least as a stopping off point to refuel. I think they just ran out of fuel before they got there, and cashed into the Western Indian Ocean, with some debris eventually coming ashore on the Eastern Coast of Africa. This area is also in range of of the satellite that picked up the pings, and the time it would take to fly to that area, matches the pings almost exactly."
  21. These type of solutions won't and never has worked well with UT2, because of the way it injects traffic. If a traffic optimizer solution deletes traffic, UT2 will just reinject it, which is what causes the stuttering.
  22. I get the big truck with the NGX so that's not it. It sounds more and more like an installation problem. Maybe for some reason the new trucks didn't install. The only other thing I can think of, is he has some custom config defined for the NGX/T7, causing only the original small truck to be used. Tom Cain
  23. I did a short video demoing the refueling procedure. Note I haven't tried it with the PMDG's Auto Turnaround mode yet, so not sure how that would work Tom Cain
  24. You should always get the new big truck with airliners like the 737, T7. It pulls up under the wing, there a fueler in the bucket above the cab, he connects the hose, then tells you to setup the fuel in the CDU. You define that in the Fuel section in the fuel section of the FMC options. Be patient it doesn't do it right away. It loads the difference of the fuel you have on board, and what you define in the FMC. If you already have 8000lb on board and define 16000 in the fmc, it will only load 8000lbs. So if you want to do a full load, preset the fuel loaded to 0 (or whatever you want) If the plane previously had more fuel then you are setting, it does a minimal load. Tom Cain
