April 7, 200521 yr HowdyToday I purchased a new LCD monitor, as my 21" CRT looks good except for night flying, with the new Ultimate Terrain night lights as black appeared slightly dark brown, annoying none the less. Anyway the new monitor is the BENQ 23" 1920x1200 DVI. When I start FS9, load a saved LDS767 flight, scroll through the views, it looks fabulous but all atempts to change settings bringing up the menu with the alt key to change from windowed to full screen for example causes FS to either hang or freeze up. I have tried re-installing new drivers for my ATI X800 XT and deleting the FS9.cfg and it still messes up. I have managed to set FS's resolution to 1920 x 1200 as well as the desktop. I'm running FS on a Athlon64 3400 with 1.25 gig of ram.Sure would appreciate any ideas that might solve my problem.ThanksSteve
April 8, 200521 yr It indeed sounds more video driver related than LCD related - the monitor itself won't impact the operation of the software. Perhaps reverting to an older set of drivers? Did your CRT run at the same resolution with no problems? Does the error occur with all aircraft, some aircraft, or just the LDS?
April 8, 200521 yr Hi Steve, just an idea, perhaps try it without the 0.25GB? Good luck and kind regards Jaap
April 8, 200521 yr Author HowdyThanks for the tips.Unfortunately when things go wrong with this sim, finding what might be causing the issue can present an overwhelming task for us all. I have so many addons where do I start. My first thought was driver issues, then maybe problems using my LD767 saved flights. So I loaded the FS9 default flight and my problems remained. Only thing left to do was a fresh install and I'm happy to say my first test flight with the Lear45 was great. Tonight I'll reinstall my traffic, mesh and terrain, LevelD767 of coarse and hope it all works.A quick review of the new BENQ 23" widescreen monitor:Looks fabulous!!High resolution picture 1920 x 1200Sharp text2D cockpit does stretch some but still useableIt's the VC environment that is AMAZING !! UNBELIEVABLE!!If it all works in the end, the price and all the work will be well worth it. :-)ThanksSteve
